New Music Tuesday: December 4th

December 4th Music ReleasesThis is a huge, HUGE day for hip hop today! So many new releases! Everyone’s gearing up for them holiday sales. According to the polls right now, looks like most cats are looking forward to that new Ghostface Killah. Yup, he got his date — December 4th. Remember a few weeks ago RZA asked him to push his date back, because they wanted to drop the new Wu-Tang album on that date? Well, Ghost didn’t back down; he got his date. That new Wu should be out next week (although I’m sure most of you have already heard it ;^). Make sure to read Edwin’s review of The Big Doe Rehab!

Also today, the one I’ve been looking forward to myself, is the new one from Styles P. I’m lovin’ that song he’s got out with Swizz right now (”Blow Your Mind”). His album should be tight. But what I wanna know is when are we gonna get a new LOX/D-Block album?!?! You gotta admit, having Styles P, Jadakiss, and Sheek Louch on a track was good times. But with Jada being on Roc-A-Fella now, who knows when that’ll happen.

Another joint I’m looking forward to droppin’ today is that new Scarface. Scarface is the OG of the south. His new song does a nice flip on that old Lenny Williams track. I hope there are some other tracks on there similar to that one.

Damn, what else we got? Oh, can’t forget DJ Drama’s debut… YES DEBUT — mixtapes don’t count! Man, seems like he’s got everyone on here. And we finally get “Feds Takin’ Pictures” on an album. I love that song right there! But he’s got guest spots from everyone who’s everyone in the south right now. You know if they reppin’ the south, they’re on this album (T.I., Young Jeezy, Jim Jones, Rick Ross, Young Buck, Outkast, 8Ball & MJG) …should I go on?

Oh, and just when you thought he was done… BAM! Too Short has a new album coming out. What is this, like his 87th album or something? The man’s been doing his thing for the past 20 years, putting out an album damn near every year. I liked the last one he put out. Let’s see if he can put out a song without saying “bitch” 40-something times on a track.

I told you this was a big day. We got more! Wyclef Jean is droppin’ his new album today. I’m not too psyched about this one. Wyclef seems to be going back to his Haitian roots lately. I ain’t mad, it just ain’t my flavor. I heard a few songs off the new album already and it was a little too ‘pop’ for me.

Question…. what would 2007 be without a new 2Pac album? Yup, they’ve done it again. This time it’s just another greatest hits compilation. I think it’s being sold as two separate CDs though. They really tryin’ to get your money! Two new tracks that stood out though were a new track with Amel Larrieux and a remix of “Dear Mama” with Anthony Hamilton. Those should be tight.

And last but not least, you know Jay-Z couldn’t resist droppin’ something on his own birthday! I think the man is trying to stir up another phenomenon with his latest, American Gangster. Just like he did with The Black Album, Jay-Z is releasing the acapellas to his latest album. So beatmakers, get your gear going! Who knows? You could be the next DJ Danger Mouse!

Whew! That’s all I’m reporting today. Read on for additional album details…
