American Gangster Remixes: Round 1

MIDIMarc: American BeatmakerHere we go! The acapellas were just released yesterday and we already have our first remix album for Jay-Z’s American Gangster. This one comes from MIDIMarc, who previously did remixes of Jay-Z’s Blueprint and Nas’ Stillmatic (check the previous Wednesday Downloads for those links).

I haven’t heard this yet, but I know it’s gonna be a good one. MIDIMarc did an excellent job on his Blueprint remix album and this American Gangster one should be hot as well. There’s no official album cover yet, but I’ll up it when it drops. For now, here’s the link to what’s important — the album…

Ladies & Gentleman, we got the one and only MIDIMarc in the house! Yo MIDI, I just gotta say that your beats are amazing! I just got finished listening to this and I’m gonna go on record and say that this WILL BE the best American Gangster remix album that will surface. Just after a quick listen, my fav beats are “No Hook” and “Say Hello”, but the whole thing is bangin’! Anytime you need some free publicity MIDIMarc, let me know. You are the next big thing!

sick stuff he never fails to deliver the dope stuff tho track 8 seems to be missing or was that a naming error love to hear it if not there

Track 8 was supposed to be “I Know”. MIDIMarc said he wasn’t happy with the remix he did and figured there was no way he could top the Neptunes beat, so out of respect he just left it off.

I also like how he flipped the sample for “Fallin” and even though it was simple, it was still clever to use that En Vogue sample for “Blue Magic”

damn shame, i would’ve dropped $ for this instead of the original.
he flipped that En Vouge sample harder than Pharrell! damn. keep doin in MIDIMarc!

btw – this drop seriously needs a cover. if he doesn’t get anyone to do it, and you’re like me and need to see a cover when a track is playing:

Dappa Don, let me know when you’re finished with your album and I’ll put you up here. I just went you your MySpace and you got got some nice tracks… got that techno vibe goin on! That Ayo Technology is much better than the original IMO. It’d be cool to hear Jay over some beats like yours. You could call it Electronica Gangster! LOL

13 Dappa Don December 15, 2007 at 4:55 pm

Thanx kevin on your kind words, but we’re goin hip hop on this,we’ll have some south orientated tracks, but no dance/techno.We’ve been gettin alotta dance/electronica remixes our way lately and we’ve been dyin to shift back to some good ol’ hip hop again!
Check out our “Party Life” it’s not complete, but we’d like some input on it…
