I’m gonna have to admit… I’ve been sleeping on The Alchemist hard! I mean I knew his beats; the work he’s done with Mobb Deep, Dilated Peoples, and D-Block, but I didn’t realize how sick his style really is until I put this compilation together. I’m gonna have to thank Creative Hustler for recommending a Producer’s Spotlight on The Alchemist. This is probably one of my favorite compilations yet!
The Alchemist, whose real name is Alan Maman, hails from Beverley Hills California. He actually started out back in 1993 as part of a duo with actor Scott Caan, called The Whooliganz. When that gig didn’t work out, Alchemist turned to making beats and ended up being the main producer for Dilated Peoples. His big break came in the late 90′s when he was introduced to Mobb Deep. From there he went on to produce songs for Nas, Fat Joe, The LOX, Ghostface Killah, and Prodigy’s solo albums. Currently, The Alchemist is the official tour DJ for Eminem and his label Shady Records.
