With all the mixtapes droppin’ lately, I bet you all forgot they sell music in the stores! Well, if you buy anything at all today, make sure you go out and support Lupe Fiasco by buying The Cool. It is one of the better albums put out this year and it is released in stores today. If you’re unsure, read the review that Edwin and I put together.
Also in stores today is the new album from Chingy. I have heard any of his new stuff lately, but apparently he’s back with Ludacris’ label, Disturbing Tha Peace. I guess grown men can let bygone by bygones. I haven’t heard much about this project, but he’s got Luda, Bobby Valentino, Amerie, Rick Ross, and Trey Songz up on there.
We don’t forget about R&B over here either. There are a couple CDs dropping today from two R&B veterans. The first is the latest from Ms. Mary J. Blige. Honestly I’m not a fan of hers. She’s got some good songs, but I always thought she was overrated. The one I am looking forward to hearing is the new one from Jaheim. This brotha can sing. He brings back that old Teddy Pendergrass soulful flavor to the R&B of today. These other young cats can’t hold a torch to him.
