American Gangster Remixes: Round 34

Gangstermen: American Gangster RemixedThis next one is a collaboration effort from 3 cats out of Providence, Rhode Island.  They call it Gangstermen: American Gangster Remixed and they are J. Depina, Matty Mischief, and Vertygo.

This one’s interesting as they they each produced separate tracks.  So you get to hear their styles switched up with every track.  At first I thought maybe it would be a little distracting because it would not offer a cohesive flow, but this actually brings a different flavor to the table; more like a regular album where you have different producers collaborating on one album.  A problem I have with some of the other remix albums is that some of them tend to get boring about halfway through because the production stays the same.  Not the case with this one.  Some people may not agree with me, but that’s what it is.

Anyway, each and every one of these cats bring something to the table right here.  Props to J. Depina for that beat switch in “Roc Boys”.  I think more producers should switch up the beat in the song, a la Timbaland.  Don’t sleep on this album; it’s pretty damn good.
