American Gangster Remixes: Round 60

Holladay GangsterOnce in a while you get the opportunity to hear something really special.  And just when you think you’ve heard it all, along comes something that makes you forget all the others.  That something is this mixtape right here.  This one was produced by Rob Holladay and Ms. Rideout (who happens to be Eve’s cousin).  If you’re not familiar with Rob Holladay, he recently broke out last summer with the hit “Sexy Lady” and other joints off Yung Berg’s debut album.

Rob went out on a limb and chose to call this mixtape The Blueprint III: Holladay Gangster.  Lucky for him it works!  Of course, nothing will live up to the original Blueprint, but the production on here is almost on par.

The samples chosen for this album are very nice and fit Jay’s style perfectly.   I even appreciate the fact that on songs such as “American Dreamin”, “Fallin”, and “Party Life” Rob chose to use the original sample and just remix it.  To me, those were the three hottest samples from the original album anyway.

Lookout for more from Rob Holladay in 2008.  He has new stuff coming out from Eve, Fabolous, and Jim Jones and plans to be in the studio with The Clipse soon.
