9th Wonder: God’s StepsonBelieve it or not 9th Wonder started the craze of remixing another person’s entire album when he remixed Nas’ God’s Son back in 2003.  From there he went on to remix Jay-Z’s The Black Album (2004′s Black Is Back) and has been working on a much anticipated American Gangster remix (The Black American Gangster).

This year is going to be a huge, HUGE year for 9th Wonder.  At the top of the year, 9th will be releasing his new compilation album, The Wonder Years, which is said to be tinged with a little more R&B.  9th has said that it’s “R&B that a guy can bump in his car without embarrassment.”  I’m excited about this, cuz I really love the work 9th did with Destiny’s Child and the latest song “Honey” by Erykah Badu.

Also being released this year is the collaboration record he did with Jean Grae a couple of years ago, Jeanius. Essentially it’s gonna be the same album that leaked in 2006, except for 5 of the songs the samples were replayed with live instrumentation.  I hope that doesn’t kill the vibe; Jeanuis was pure genius!

Another release that 9th has me looking forward to is his third collaboration with rapper Murs, entitled Sweet Lord.  In my opinion, the last two 9th/Murs collabos were some one the best stuff 9th has produced.  This one should be no exception.  Murs also has another record coming out this year called Murs For President, where 9th produced a few cuts on that as well.  Apparently the two are close and Murs visits 9th everything Thanksgiving.  The result so far is that we get a new Murs/9th Wonder album.  Break out the turkey!

And finally 9th collaborated for the second time with Buckshot for the album The Formula, due out in March of this year.  That’s all the info I have on that album.  So, yeah, 2008 is gonna be a killer year for 9th Wonder fans.  If The Black American Gangster gets released, that will make 5 full albums, besides the various production he plans to do for other artists.  That’s more than what we get from some artists in a decade!

Oops, almost forgot… the download link for God’s Stepson.  As a bonus, here’s an instrumental version of God’s Stepson that I found as well.

Aw, mayne…thanks much for these…I love this album..that’s what it is to me. “The Cross” is the major standout to me…I used to have that track on repeat for 2 hours at the least! And I haven’t been able to get these since I converted over to my other hard drive as a primary. SO, thanks a lot once again.

Do you think anyone will ever match the instrumentals with the non-edited verses. Live instrumentation is kinda scary to me for the album
