My man, SmokeYYY, from That Real Ish hit me up earlier this week to do another guest spot for his Thursday’s Throwback. It’s been a couple of months since I did this, so I said, “Why not?”
It took me a minute to decide what throwback deserved my attention. Then it came to me… Timbaland & Magoo‘s “Up Jumps Da Boogie”. Released in 1997, this was the single that introduced Tim & Magoo to the world off their debut, Welcome To Our World. Peaking at #12 on Billboard’s Hot 100, this track featured Missy Elliott and the late, great Aaliyah on the hook.
Timbaland has come a long way since then, but if you don’t know earlier Timbaland I recommend you check ‘em out, starting with this track. The lyrical play between Tim, Maganoo, and Missy isn’t too impresive, but this beat is HOT!
