yeah… first of all, the 9th wonder mix is shit! the stereo pan on the main sample is overkill and too wide! pete’s is perfectly chopped mono sample on the SP1200 where he extracted the hi-hat chops from the right channel. The funny thing is, Pete just added a kick and snare… the hats are so crispy right out the SP… they sizzle like bacon on a iron skillet!

I wish 9th wonder would go to Pete’s crib and steal (or borrow but never return) that horrible Akai product. Pete needs to get back on the SP1200… permanently. haha!

I agree , I would have to give it to Pete Rock,but 9th also flipped the hell out of the track.The reason I would give the advantage to Pete is that out of all the producers thats out now, 9th,s style is more influenced by Pete Rock(P.R.jr to a degree).9th even uses a female in the chorus like Pete did.

pete is classic. But 9th wonder takes advantage of the sexiest part of the song (those harps and piano chords). Pete uses the bass part in the verse. I dunno. I’m slidin toward 9th on this one (though the female is kinda loud in the mix). btw, Im new here.

In my opinion both beats are ok but whats make me go mad is that this producers are using samples already used in the past more than once.Why they stopped diggin man???so many lp undusted still layin somewhere in the basement.Even on the new PR album again same breaks n beats appears.Thats wack son!Word

I like 9th’s use of horns, but it sounds as if he’s layering samples and drums on top of each other. Don’t get me wrong, 9th is mad nice, but PR gets the nod here. It just sounds (and feels) like everything is woven together like that blanket my grandma made for me back in the day.

9th used this sample by Jay-Z Threat remix on Black is Back remix album – Perhaps that’s Wonders beat instrumental ever…

Pete’s this beat is not so amzing (anyway he can make huge beat we know that obviesly)

Pete Rock by a land slide. no disrespect to 9th, but Pete’s chops, drums (that hi-hat??…mmmmphhh!) Pete’s version is much cleaner and crispier.

Pete Rock kills it, keeping the beat true to it’s funky smooth roots but adding some good ol boom bap to it. The 9th beat seems a little too bare bones and more straight foreward to me…basically 9th Wonder’s version is a beat and Pete Rock’s version is a full production.

Both beats are amazing in my opinion only reason that I believe that Pete got this is because of the era in which the track was released back when Boom Bap wasn’t an alien term. 9th’s version bumps too his drums are amazing on the track and the song as a whole sounds better because of the cohesiveness but strictly beat wise Pete put a lil more effort in weaving them samples together good ish

Pete Rock kills this. I like how he weaves the Curtis sample and Isaac Hayes between each other. I think 9th’s is a little more basic…I like both songs, but Pete Rock is my winner

On the Nas & MIDImarc Stillmatic Remix LP he used a sample for THE FLYEST that i’ve heard before… for some reason i’m thinking it was used by Boot Camp, maybe Black Moon specifically… anyways if you can help my dude I would appreciate it… sorry for the off topic comment
