Classic. That’s all I have to say about this hip hop album right here. I still find it hard to believe that this album is 20 years old. Long Live The Kane is the album that put both Big Daddy Kane and Marley Marl on the map. Marley Marl, of course, produced this entire album and you can definitely tell. Marley Marl likes to use a lot of James Brown and classic break beats in his production, but that’s what made the 80s golden era hip hop sound. This sample set has nothing on Long Live The Kane, as you’ll find yourself wanting to hear Big Daddy Kane rip in with a dope verse. So if you don’t have this album, make sure you go out and get it!

I remember listening and rewinding, listening and rewinding “Ain’t No Half-Steppin” and “Raw” continuously to get the lyrics down. BDK was the ish.
BDK still IS tha ish! Did you hear his verse on Jazzy Jeff’s “The Garden”?
