Kool G. Rap: 4,5,6 [Original Samples]

Released on September 12, 1995, 4,5,6 is the solo debut album from Kool G Rap. The release followed his break-up with DJ Polo in 1993. The album was not received well critically, but was warmly accepted by underground fans. Despite the album’s dark, grimy street sound, it peaked at number one on the R&B/Hip-Hop charts, and also featured two crossover hits, with the title track “4,5,6″, and “Fast Life”. The album features guest appearances from B1, MF Grimm and Nas, as well as production from Dr. Butcher, Naughty Shorts, T-Ray and Buckwild of D.I.T.C.

The critics were wrong imo about this album. G Rap came hard on this. I’m thinking “Fast Life” and OG of “Its a Shame” threw them off.

The David Axelrod sample on “take em to war” ( Small professor i see you kid, I gotta admit you flipped it better ) alone makes this joint mad valueble.
