Just Blaze: Original Samples Collection

The ROC is in the building!!! It’s been almost 2 months since we posted the Kanye West sample collection and I promised you Just Blaze next.   Well, here it is!  Not quite as big as the Kanye set, this collection contains 60 songs that have been sampled by Just Blaze in his productions.  This set was definitely a lot tougher to compile than the Kanye set; which is why it took so long.

You’ll notice most of these samples come from tracks Just Blaze produced for Roc-A-Fella artists, but there are also samples from songs by T.I., Usher, Fat Joe, Common, Saigon, Shyne, Foxy Brown, and The Game to name a few.  We also have a few Jay-Z samples that were previously unreleased in all of the Jay-Z sample sets.  At 60 samples, this set is no where near complete, but it’s as complete as we’re gonna get right now.  Feel free to add to it in the comments if you know one we’re missing!

Been waitin’ on this set Kev!! Even though Kanye is dope I always liked Just Blaze better I thought the beats he did on The Blueprint were better than Kanye’s IMO but Kanye beats were still ill

5 Yous July 20, 2008 at 12:31 pm

Hi Kev, good work on this one again, thx for all these Original samples series, but i noticed an error on this one, it concern the Fat Joe’s track, it’s not Iron Butterfly, but an italian prog band called I Marc 4, and the song is Distortion Mind, It’s true sonicly it sounds like the Iron butterfly joint, they have the same organic vibe, even the organ play.
See you for other series!
Peace go with you brother

6 hans July 20, 2008 at 12:43 pm

7 Kevin July 20, 2008 at 12:43 pm

Thanks London, still diggin’ though man. Just has done so much great work, I guess I over looked that album (I’m not really a Dipset fan). But we’ll look into adding those. Shoot, I’ll do one better… how ’bout we hook up the samples to the whole Diplomatic Immunity album?

10 Kevin July 20, 2008 at 9:28 pm

Actually, scratch that… my boy Goon already hooked that set up…

Thanks Kevin. Ever since I discovered your blog I’ve been adding to my library. The Vickie Sue Robinson – I Hope Your Feelings Are The Same is a gem. I’ve been trying to get that for years.

Kevin, thanks for the Dipset samples set. I would kiss you (no homo). You may not like the Dipset but I think you’d like a lot of the samples. Especially some of the early stuff. Again, thanks for that link.

Take care bruv

24 Agha January 27, 2009 at 9:29 pm

hey kevin! good work with these!! but im confused about the “100 guns” sample… =\ i mean, what part did just blaze sample? i cant find nothin related to kingdom come.
keep up the great work!

25 Kevin January 27, 2009 at 11:16 pm

Great question Agha. Actually, it was a mistake on my part to include “100 Guns” in this compilation as it has nothing to do with Just Blaze’s production. It’s more or less an interpolation of the chorus in “100 Guns”. The part where Jay says, “The King of New York, New York”. The way he says New York is based on the way KRS says, “going to New York, New York.”

Yeah, I know it’s stretching it… lol. Again, totally not a sample and I apologize for throwing it in here and causing confusion.
