Shire: Baltimore’s Daughter

Aight, we try to keep it strictly hip hop around here, but it’s late and I’m gettin’ my R&B groove on.  This new mixtape, from Baltimore’s Shire (pronounced Sha-Ray) is an R&B mixtape that true hip hop head will dig as well.  Mary J, time to retire… Keyshia Cole, move over…. Shire is where it’s at.  And she’s finer than ya’ll too! Ha-ha!

look Kev,i havent heard this yet,but dont ever tell MJB to retire.Shes the reason why Shir’e got her chance.LOL

OK Kev,i’ve had a chance to listen to it now,and i will admit, she’s hot(music wise lol),but she’s still no MJB.I would definitely cop her cd.She is like the rebirth of Mona Lisa, and for those who dont know who SHE is,look it up.She was a hip hop type r&b singer.A good reference,to find her is,she had a joint on the “Dont be a Menace, while drinking your Juice In The Hood soundtrack, then tell me what u think.

    Peace!

I’ll have to cop this later, but Kev, leave my girl Mary out of this. LOL

You know it Thomas.I’ve got everyone of MJB’s cds, even the whats the 411 remix cd.Die Hard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

S.T.T.R.E.S.S. I have all of Mary’s joints as well. My favorite is My Life. My girl was going through some stuff.

Check this out. I went through Wiki and looked at her discography and have been on the hunt for any and everything that she has been on. Fav track not on an album was “A Dream” from Money Talks and “I Love You (remix)” with Smif n Wessum…I think that’s the name….the joint with the Isaac Hayes sample that everyone has used.

Oh….I’ll check Shire later…off topic again.

For all you Mary J fans, DJ BIG TEXAS is planning to mix her samples next… should be dope.

But what do you all think of Shire? Forget the Mary comment, let’s discuss this mixtape. I’m really diggin’ her choice of beats to sing over.

Which leads me to another question… should we highlight R&B here from time to time?

  • Thomas

I would say yes to highligthing r & b if there is a hip hop element to it. My bad….I’m always off topic.

Hey Kev,you didnt stop them from talking kung-fu on the remix spot.LOL.I always love hip hop themed r&b music.I also like the choice of beats used on the mixtape. It might have been 1,maybe 2 beats, that she should have left alone, because the harmonies didnt match up with the beat. But like i said earlier, shes hot and worth copping. We always need new talent out here, that can actually sing. You should premier some r&b on the site, and i have a hell of a argument for it.

1.Alot of r&b is hip hop themed
2.Alot of r&b artists have m.c.s & rappers on their joints
3.One more very important factor, that should close the case.If it wasnt for r&b,hip hop as we know it,would probably not exist. At least 95% of all beats made for hip hop,are r&b based samples, which is also derived from term a.k.a. soul music. To put the icing on the cake, the first person,i ever heard to actually have rapped, wasnt a m.c.,it was a singer!

    And the defense rest!LOL

I got a chance to listen last night. Not too bad. She has some potential. I don’t think anybody can go wrong singing over them classic Wu bangers. I need to hear the mid-tempo joints and the love ballets. Gotta get my grown man on. LOL.

If anyone is going to take over the throne of mary j blige and keyshia cole i would think it could be shire.. She’s got the voice and talent to do so.
