Tuition, Competition, and Hip Hop

  1. DAMN! I come at you guys right now with the first Deez Steez in a while to rant about something I’m just fuming about. Tuition. It’s about that time for school to start again and I, along with so many other University students (and College students for those in the You Ess of Ehhhhh) in Canada paying ridiculously high rates to get a higher learning *no Ice Cube*. Tuition is one of 4 large factors killing me. The second is transportation. Either way I’m bending over for the banks and getting f*cked so hard that all the money in my pocket is dropping out. The third factor is textbooks. Are you kidding me with this? Me and my boy were talking and he brought up a good point that Professors (mostly against their own will) make second and third issues of a book they sold the year before at a much cheaper price and raise the price because of one small addition. Class booklets are where they really get you, up to $200 for one booklet. It’s kind of painful that the forth factor is miscellaneous spending. Thanks to the genius fast food minds everywhere, the university is littered with fast food places sucking the money away from our back pockets as the universities dig in the side pockets. Not only that, I need a freaking new MP3 player, a new cell phone, some clothes, and repairs on my laptop, glasses, and some fun spending of course that I probably will have to limit by about 90%. I hope you guys can feel me on this, it’s putting a large toll on me.

  2. As you guys all noticed, my producer, Remot entered a huge 1000+ competitor contest for remixing the grammatically painful Mariah Carey joint. It’s an amazing track, and to make up for all my anger above, here it is. The anger and ranting will stem from the ridiculous process. Explain to me how there are 1000 competitors, and people with the top 10 votes get their ish heard by the higher uppers. You are telling me, the average every day person is going to sit there and go through 25-40 pages of music and pick the best remix out of all of them? This means that this contest is essentially a “who can recruit the most voters” battle as opposed to “who made the better beat”. So, homie who has an amazing beat but doesn’t want to cheat or promote and just wants honest people to make honest votes, will finish dead last. The people who are in the top 10 obviously have huge campaigns and are probably beating the voting system. But who cares, the top ten best remixes will have the top 10 hardest working cheaters, promoters, or most popular people in the tournament. So thank God that there is this system, and God forbid if these industry types will sit down and honestly listen to at least the first 10 pages of this remix contest where people spent months making a remix, but just want honest votes. Shame… well, with that said, I’m going to do my part as a manager and bleed out as many votes as possible. VOTE FOR REMOT

  3. DJ Premier and Pete Rock are coming in 21 days. They are going to do a battle at this club in Toronto. I really have nothing else to say about Hip Hop until then and I kind of don’t have a choice. Nothing else really matters. Oh, and a huge shout out to my girl, Sandra!! Whattup Doe!!!!

I hear you about the tuition fees bruv, I flopped my first year at uni and switched courses, making it even worse… I’ll be facing a minimum of £24,000 debt by the time I graduate, it’s a depressing thought!

damn Keeves, sorry to hear that man.

I got scholarships, but all those went down the drain after I got my hip injury and had to miss some school. Long story short, it’s a shitty situation
