Finding Forever: Original Samples

I know you’re wondering, “hasn’t this sample set been done before?”.  Yes it has.  In fact, it has been attempted not one, not two, not even three, but four times prior to this post.  So why revist it?  The contrubutors here at This Is Hip Hop and I are preparing for our next Artist Week and it just happens to be a week dedicated to Common.   No, sorry, it’s not this week.  It’ll be next month.  Anyway, I was looking through all the sample sets we’ve done for Common and looking for the site that compiled Finding Forever. Props to HipHopST, who seem to have compiled it first, then to MIC CHECK, Milk Crate Breaks, and finally Bulldog who had it up prior to his site crashing.

While all of these site did a great job in compiling the Finding Forever samples, they just didn’t have that This Is Hip Hop treatment.  So we just decided to make it official.  While compiling the set, we came up with a whooping 8 samples more than the other guys had.  That’s right, 23 samples in this set.  Hope we didn’t step on anyone’s toes by putting this set out.  With it being one of my favorite albums from Common, I just had to!

Non-modern sample? You mean “Tezeta” by Seyfu Yohannes? Can’t you just download the whole set?

“Misunderstood” samples a Live version of Nina Simone’s “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood”. This set has the studio version.
