Podcast: Nicolay’s Productions

There’s no doubt in my mind that Nicolay is one of my top 3 favorite producers.  His music transcends past hip hop… past all genres… past all boundaries.  This year, with the release of Leave It All Behind and TIME:LINE, Nicolay proves that he is a music force to be reckoned with.

It’s been close to a year since I did my Producer Spotlight on Nicolay.  I felt it was time to update the playlist and actually create a podcast for download.  So I broke out my DJ Kevy Kev alter ego and mixed an hour’s worth of my favorite Nicolay produced joints.  Check it out…

  1. “Nic’s Groove” by The Foreign Exchange
  2. “Nic’s Groove (Back To The Basics Remix)” by The Foreign Exchange
  3. “The Way You Do It (Nicolay Remix)” by Little Brother
  4. “Through The Wind” by Nicolay & Kay
  5. “Feeling Real” by Preach
  6. “Brenda’s Baby” by Median
  7. “What It Stand For” by eMC
  8. “Fantastic” by THETHYRDAY
  9. “Miss You (Remix)” by Cesar Comanche (feat Edgar Allen Floe)
  10. “Be Allright (Sunday Afternoon Remix)” by The Foreign Exchange

ahh nice one Kev – exactly what i needed before i hit bed tonight lol!

ive said it once, and ill keep on saying it – that easy breezy sunday afternoon mix of be alright is possibly the best track ever created

  • http://kevinnottingham.com Kevin

Hope you like the mix Jason. But yeah, the original Be Allright is good, but that Sunday Afternoon mix is just amazing… one of my favs for sure.

You know what, he’s a good producer, but not great. Sometimes beats are too organic for me, just my opinion.

  • http://kevinnottingham.com Kevin

    Too organic? Please explain…

  • BC

Greatest ever producers? I never heard of this dude, ama check it right now, and holla.

    hrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

    Geeez louize on Brenda’s Baby

Not only is the BEAT better than the original, but the song is too. Yeah bring on the hate.. But I know hardcore WestCoasters who even admit it. Median eats it up

  • trapperjohnmd

Deez, I said the same thing and some people couldn’t believe it. Yo, the story was on some Ghostface shit. I could picture the female in the restaurant and the Delta’s coming in and taking her under their wing. Classic! Kevin, the beats sound hollow. Has the alternative feel to them.
