The War Report: Original Samples

We’ve got another treat for everyone out of our “incomplete/unfinished” folder: Capone-N-Noreaga’s The War Report. The album dropped in the summer of 1997 and helped usher back that gritty, gutter street music after Puff and Bad Boy had a strong hold on the industry for a minute. Noreaga carried most of the album with help from numerous guests since Capone was locked up at the time. Noreaga’s performance on this album made him into Hip Hop’s newest star. The production is handled by EZ Elpee, Buckwild, Tragedy Khadafi, Nashiem Myrick, Carlos “6 July” Broady and others, so you know the heat was given to the Queen’s duo. The set includes some old Jazz, soul, new school R & B, and couple of popular break beats. We’ve included the sample for “Calm Down” and Sam Sneed’s version of “Closer”. This set isn’t complete, but we couldn’t hold it back any longer. Enjoy…

Classic album times 2. Bangs from beginning to end. Not sure why “Calm Down” wasn’t on the album. Thinking Columbia wouldn’t clear Nas’s appearance.

Was this sample, sampled through out the whole song, or was it that humming type voice that came in and out like every 4 or 8 bars???????
