Well, it’s of course always nice have a broad taste, but Akon … nah. You just won the “Music Lover Blog of the Year”-award, and you like Akon?

Great opportunity Kev.It’s an interview with someone that’s in the industry, with their own label. There’s a big possibility that he has something to say that could be helpful to someone.I applaude the ones that feel strongly about not doing the interview and left their link up to their name(hint)LMAO!!!!!!!!!

I’m not a fan of Akon however, who knows YOU, is more impressive and substantial than who you know! Props Kevin! S.T.T.R.E.S.S. has a point!

    Congrats,

LOL at you haters. I’m not even a big Akon fan, but damn! someone just complimented the site and could potentially get the site more exposure, and you just talk shit on him?! SMH

  • Thomas

I feel a lot of hate going on here. What’s the issue because I’m not understanding?

    What up S.T.T.R.E.S.S.!

  • Sean Deez

I’m really not a huge fan of Akon, but I respect what he does. Fact is, I’m really not a fan of a lot of originators of hip hop, but I respect them.

There’s a line and regardless, even if we won the Music Lover’s Blog award, its because we love music, all kinds. Do we not have a large variety of RnB on here? what about the Gym Class Heroes, and a Maroon 5 Remix Album review I have coming up.

What about The Knux who have so much.

Fact is, Akon took time out of his ridiculously busy schedule to hook us up with this.. its things like this that will elevate us to the blog we all want to be. The more people we expand to, the more people will hear this stuff and pay attention.

Akon has a ton of history… You’d be surprised if you looked up some of his stuff. He was on The Fugees “The Score”…I’m sure that makes for some interesting stories

  • Thomas

    Co-sign Deez.

What up Thomas! U would have to ask the ones that’s not feeling it and open it up for discussion.

    Amen to that, Deez!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, I really can’t believe all the hate here against Akon. But I’m curious, is the hate directed towards him or is it directed towards me for posting this? I appreciate everyone who stood up for this post.

Fact of the matter is, I’m not the biggest Akon fan, but I respect the fact that dude is mad talented and does his thing. Don’t tell me you never grooved to Snoop Dogg’s “I Wanna Love You” or Eminem’s “Smack That”. This site is primarily a site for producers and young cats can learn a thing or two from Akon.

I truly appreciate Akon taking the time out of his busy schedule to do this short video clip. Obviously none of you never took any business classes. If Akon came to you and asked you for a beat, would you turn him down? If you did, you’d be stupid. Opportunity came knocking and I opened the door. We’re here doing this thing to make a difference. And if people like Akon are listening, your music could be the next thing we hear on the radio.

    j fizz

  • Sean Deez

It’s not even a business thing either though Kev. I guarantee you with all the exposure this site has gotten, you are telling me there aren’t a few Akon fans out there?

We put up stuff for one person or one million people to be happy

  • eA

Man, too big of things. Regardless of whether or not you like his music, he holds a serious spot in production that can’t be overlooked on airwaves.

Akon week coming up- his sample set isn’t too bad either; (if loving you is wrong) I don’t want to be right by bobby bland for tired of runnin’.

I must say, his third album is all right, but the first two were pretty solid musically. I had a bus trip from NY to Boston with Konvicted on repeat.

Definitely got to go at him about his recent comments on jail time- “I did a month, month there, so I put them all together.”

  • Silky Johnson

Akon week? Like: How many wack collabos can you actually do that sounds all the same?
Haha, When it comes to anything Akon related I’m competing for the hater of the year award.

I’m not “knockin somebodys hustle” or whatever people call it when you dislike some artist who’s on the pop chart, but This Is Hip Hop didn’t win the blog award thing because you guys copy nahright like everybody else…..

Give us Wajeed or something, PPP dropping in January.

  • http://midimarc.blogspot.com MIDIMarc

Silky…..you’re the reason hiphop is dead

    Thanks a lot

  • Sean Deez

I don’t think we are trying to be like any other blogs, in fact, something like this should be even more unique. Save the comments until the interview comes in. I know I asked a few, thomas and Kev asked a bunch too.
