It’s time for change in more ways than one. It’s a new year; the country has a Black president; and Hip Hop is about to be shaken up by Mekka Don & Mick Boogie. Not sure what all the buzz is about? Check out what Urb.com calls a “beautiful stage show.” The All Eyes On Me EP is inspired by Tupac’s epic sounds with Obama’s promise. Change hasn’t sounded this good in years.
Mekka Don takes on the role of Barrack Obama in this new EP conceptualized by Mick Boogie. With Remot on the boards flipping samples from Tupac’s All Eyez On Me, this album is sure to get some people listening. Check it after the jump…
1. ALL EYES ON ME
The purpose of this track is to introduce the theme of the EP. With Barack Obama becoming President at such an important time coupled with his improbable victory, many “eyes” are watching his every move – even his supporters. This song examines many of the different people who are watching him, their circumstances, and the tough (and silly) questions he has faced or will face.
2. HOW DO YOU WANT IT
The rich want to get richer. The poor want to get richer. Survival of the fittest – nobody wants to sacrifice. In this song, Barack Obama explains that in order for America to regain its supremacy, people must be willing to compromise. He acknowledges the different needs of different Americans and admits that he is not perfect and that he will not be able to deliver everything that everyone wants.
3. HEARTS OF MEN
Although there are probably more Presidents that influenced Barack Obama, this song examines four Presidents in particular that Barack was influenced by and how he was influenced by them. The four Presidents are Franklin Delano Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy, Ronald Reagan, and Bill Clinton.
4. SCANDALOUS
In Barack Obama’s eyes, he has always been the same guy representing the same ideals and values. However, there are many people who cling to him now who haven’t always been at his side. In this song, Barack explores peoples’ scandalous actions since he has become the President, but also explains that he is not resentful. However, he is aware and he wants everyone to know.
5. TRADING WAR STORIES
There are several American soldiers in Iraq, and many of them have different stories. This song examines three different soldiers’ stories of how they got into the Army and into Iraq. All of them are looking to Barack to help get them out of there. The third story is a true story. The victim in the verse is Mekka Don’s cousin.
6. COME SEE ME
Contrary to popular belief, everybody is not enamored with Barack Obama. This song examines two totally different people’s perspectives. The first verse is the voice of a young black man who is from the ghetto. The second verse is the voice of a racist white man who is a member of the KKK. Neither one of these guys are fans of Barack. Although disturbing, this is reality and it’s an important piece to the overall “All Eyes On Me” theme.
7. PICTURE ME ROLLING
This song is probably the most “fun-loving” song on the EP. In this song, Barack Obama talks about his journey through life and into the Presidency. He also boasts a bit about what it is like to be the President of the United States and relishes in some of the perks of the job. Although we may never hear Barack say these things in real life, he is only human and therefore must be proud of his accomplishments.
8. LIFE GOES ON
After listening to Barack Obama’s speeches, it is very clear that his mother and grandmother were tremendous influences on him and his life. This song is dedicated to them primarily but also is dedicated to all the people who have passed away who have influenced Barack’s life. Finally, Barack recognizes that although he will always hurt from these deaths, he has an obligation to them and to the world to keep going strong and be the best man he can be.
9. BONUS TRACK: DEAR OBAMA
This song serves as an open letter to Barack Obama from three different Americans who are going through three different struggles. The letters capture the emotions and difficulties that many Americans are facing leading into the election. Each American is a Barack supporter who is suffering through an issue that they are hoping Barack will be able to fix. Tough love.

Obama is already disapointing me… How can he possibly say nothing about what’s going on in Palestine and just wait and see. I’d like Mick Boogie to be president at least he never disapoints me…
LMAO. Don’t go Obama bashing here…. huge supporter!
Yo Kev, problem is he might do great things for america, but he gotta give a shot to the people abroad too. That’s all I’m saying.

He’s gonna face alot of haters in his own party soon…I already know how the story unfolds…especially if he starts taking THE PEOPLES best interest at heart
I really hate discussing politics, but I’ll throw my side in the hat…
Our country (the U.S.) is so fucked up right now, we need a President who will look out for our best interests first. Too often do we get involved in other countries affairs while we have equally important matters going on here at home that get overlooked. No offense to my brothers overseas, but we need to be selfish for once and get our country back on track. So bluntly, I could care less about what’s going on in Palestine. Besides, with 8 years of W. behind us, we can’t get any worse.
“I could care less about what’s going on in Palestine”
wow…smh
I think I’ll stick to Kev’s music opinions…
This Is Politics, apparently
Really though, before this gets out of hand, regardless of our views on politics and foreign and domestic affairs, at least we have music to unite us at the end of the day, and that’s what it’s all about. People catch feelings over political issues, same thing happens when you speak about religion. It’s not a good look. Let’s drop this and get back to the music. Personally, after reading and watching the news, I NEED to listen to music to at least clear my head; it’s a release.
So even if this gets ignored and everyone goes back to talking about politics, at least keep it civil and respectful
Agreed Freddie… let’s stick to the music.
enough with the politics guys
enjoy the raps of Mekka and the smooth production flips of Remot.
Fred, I’m especially interested to get your opinion on it as the resident west sider
Stickin to the script…
Looks like a dope mashup. Good to hear more stuff from Remot, I’ll peep this when I get home from class!
I’ve had this for a minute, but I’ve only had the chance to listen to like the first 2 songs from it. Liked what I heard, but I need to sit and give it an honest listen the whole way through.
Remot is a beast though..
