Amplified

Ahhhhh, been sittin on this one for a while. We couldn’t finish it up back when we did Q-Tip Week and we had planned on putting it out last month. Well, we held on to it a little longer hoping to find some more samples. This is about what we came up with. So here you go…. Day 18 in our January Month of Samples. Remember, a lot of these sets that we’re posting this month are incomplete. We’re trying to clear these out so we can work on some new sets.

Produced by Dilla, Q-Tip, and DJ Scratch, Amplified was Q-Tip’s solo debut in 1999. It left many Tribe fans with mixed emotions as Amplified’s style was more mainstream than any of A Tribe Called Quest’s previous work. Here are the samples…

CATS FRONTED ON THIS ALBUM BUT Q-TIP WAS ABLE TO REACH A WHOLE DIFFERENT AUDIENCE WITH ONE. THE VIBE MAY HAVE BEEN MORE MAINSTREAM, BUT THIS WAS FAR FROM BEING AN IGNORANT TYPE OF ALBUM.

I agree with the comment that this was an under-appreciated album by a lot of people, me being one of them. Looking back Tip crossed over to different “chambers” with this album without alienating anyone. I was just stuck in ‘93 Tribe Territory which was my fault!!! Peace and thanks for the download.

Kev, big ups and respect for putting this up—Drew J, you are dead right my man-I was blue in the face in the 90’s defending Q Tip and co for albums like this, and the under-rated Love Movement and Beats rhymes and life with Tribe—PS-Dilla is God
