2008 Behind Us

After slaving over those 2008 lists, I realized that I still haven’t entered the world of 2009 Hip Hop. Granted, nothing huge has been released, but those lists made me revisit a lot of tracks and albums that needed that extra listen. Sorry that it took until mid-January, but better late than never. Our goal at KevinNottingham.com is to provide you guys with stuff you may not have encountered on any other site, we pride ourselves on that. Our written content, our sample content, our compilations, our personalities can’t be found anywhere. Would you take a “you got it here first” (that you can get anywhere if you wait a few minutes/hours) over sample sets and thorough spotlights, interviews, and compilations that you can only get on this site?

In all honesty, I was happy to do this. And if you do read the stuff instead of writing one word responses, I much appreciate it. Hell, even if you do drop one word responses, I love it. I loved the debate it caused, I loved the feathers it rustled, and I love the hits and comments it brought in. We do this for hip hop; not for money, not for fame, not for ass; we do it for hip hop because we love it.

I’d like to send a few thank you notes to Thomas and Kevin who gave me their input and help when I needed it. I’d also like to send a big shout out to my Facebook message board- “A Hip Hop Lover’s Delight 4 Life”- for helping me out and spawning some ideas of mine to get the ball rolling on these lists. Another thank you goes out to all the artists, PR’s, Manager’s, Assistant’s, etc. that threw some discs and interviews my way; Aubrey, Donny G, Gaurav, Vis, Keezy, David, Grady, Matt, Dart, Wax, Trevor, and plenty of others that I’m probably missing.

In order to love hip hop, you need to go deep into it, and I urge all of you to revisit a pretty impressive year from 2008 and take listens to stuff you may not have found in your last 12 month journey through music. Now let’s move on to 2009 and begin to craft out top 10 lists right now.

Peace.  -Deez
