by Kevin on January 29, 2009 · 37 comments

There’s a new Raekwon & Ghostface track going around the Net — “Criminology 2″, produced by RZA. Rumor has it that it’s not the first single, but it is included in Raekwon’s Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II. 2Dopeboyz.com is reporting that a release date of April 7, 2009 for the long awaited follow up to OB4CL. I’m not holding my breath. Grab the new track after the jump…

Make or break album for Rae. My thing is who is really checking for OB4CL2 other than people at least 28 and up?

Good point Thomas…I scared that it’s not going to live up to my Hype…The purple tape was my theme music to when I got my Driver’s license…

The track is CRAZY. Good looking out for this. I’m officially wilding out.

The original version is still untouchable but this joint is in it’s own lane. Crack spot beat and dope money verses. It’s funny that while Rae is more laid back Ghost still sounds aggressive as hell. Rza took the same samples he used and juiced em up something ill.

THANK YOU

yeah we’ll see about this. remember, Detox had a release date, too.

I’m 21 and Cuban Linx is one of my faves; i dont remember it when it came out but i love it now and cant wait for part 2, though I doubt it’ll live up

i agree with thomas, i don’t think it sell well (now only shit hip-hop with club beats sells…). But i’m really hyped up to this album, this first track is just insane.

I aint really checking for this no more.. I think its going to be an upset..maybe a few years ago I was on it. but as of now.. i aint really checking for nobody..

10 J Fizz January 29, 2009 at 8:38 pm

yeah im a young kid and cuban linx is one of my top 5 hip hop albums for me of all time……
I love how there tryin to recapture the old time sound…
but this song is real similar to criminology the original.. They got the same Black Ivory sample of horns in the chorus, Similar verse parts, only difference is the drums are a lil less grimey (which imo is not necessarily a good thing)
i like it a lot!! … but i think they could be a lil more original without hurtin the sound

11 razorSHARPE January 29, 2009 at 8:40 pm

nah but the purpose of resamplin da same song iz to recapture da same feel in a different form

12 J Fizz January 29, 2009 at 9:25 pm

yeah i feel you but why did they take so many years to put this out when rza could remake that beat in 30 min?????

13 razorSHARPE January 30, 2009 at 7:43 am

u neva kno thys joint coulda been amde yearz ago….its mostly politics cuz if u think abt it raekwon gotta wrry abt da record labelz n shyt so maybe he finally got da approval to drop da joint…but idk yo honestly im just anotha anticipatin fan….

(New Raekwon!!!) Criminology 2 (CDQ) – Rae, Nicnack & Ghostface —> hxxp:youtube.com/watch?v=E0sncq0hM_g

15 juiceville January 30, 2009 at 10:26 am

i slid this on my playlist after criminology, dosnt touch the first one lyricly but its still sweet as a nut. cant wait for the album.

16 trapperjohnmd January 30, 2009 at 1:26 pm

Nothing can ever compare to the original, but it’s very dope. It is make or break for his legacy, but Nas came back with Stillmatic and I think it’s going to better than what’s expected. It won’t touch the original, but it will be crazy

17 36chambers February 2, 2009 at 1:17 pm

hey narcs! dont doubt cubal linx 2 is gonna be a classic. wu is the best period and raekwon is a king among kings. its been a long time coming but once it drops its gonna be the best wu album in awhile rae is gonna see to that so strap in and be ready. Suuuuuu

18 Thomas February 2, 2009 at 1:27 pm

I WANT OB4CL2 to be great. I’m waiting to see. This might be the best comeback story in hip hop’s history!

19 hiphophead February 4, 2009 at 7:26 pm

Im waiting for OB4CL2 and im only 16.
I love old school hiphop.
the three tracks sound dope so far.

20 Ivan February 13, 2009 at 11:17 pm

To Thomas, I’m 18 an Cuban Linx is my favorite album! Can’t wait 4 #2. Rae, at his best, is my favorite Wu-Tang member.

21 GeeTee February 14, 2009 at 12:57 pm

Damn I’m 27 and definitely looking forward to this Thomas, I think the question should be 25 and up. I copped OB4CL when I was 14 back in High School a few months after it dropped, my favorite solo LP by the Wu. I doubt this will be better than part 1 but I’m not even expecting it to be, I just want something great, so far every track has been fire though.

22 Thomas February 14, 2009 at 1:10 pm

I’m glad people are awaiting this joint. Hopefully no push back!

23 Antek February 25, 2009 at 4:42 pm

To Thomas : i´m 16 year old Wu fan , and Rae and Ghost are my favorite rappers and i can tell they got some younger fans to ;) , And i can´t wait for this album i heard 2 leaked singles and i gotgoosebumps :) , But do anyvone know if this is the serious realease date i mean it´s been pushed back so many times?

24 Thomas February 25, 2009 at 10:32 pm

Didn’t mean to offend anyone….I was just wondering.

25 razorSHARPE February 26, 2009 at 12:23 am

werd shout out to da young niggaz that are real fans of hip hop

26 JAU POON March 23, 2009 at 11:46 am

Im only 22 and im dyin to check out Cuban Linx 2. Although I must admit I was a Wu Tang head growin up, I remember when Wu Tang Forever came out, I think i was in like 5th or 6th grade and i was rockin the hell out of that shit.

New rap/hip hop sucks tho its really a shame, the majority of the Wu Tang Clan is keepin it real tho. Even tho i thought 8 Diagrams was only soso Ill still support the Wu. And people, be sure to PURCHASE their albums dont illegally download them. If you enjoy the artist you should SUPPORT them so they can continue to entertain us.

Hopefully Cuban Linx 2 is out soon.

PEACE

27 Hardscape March 23, 2009 at 11:52 am

I just turned 20 and cant wait for Linx 2 are you kidding me. This is the most anticipated hip hop album of the year. Wu is still keeping the game on lock, and they have been in the game for like 18 years, no one lasts that long. And Rae has been cooking up mad flavor in the kitchen. “Wu Ooh” “Criminology 2″ “Yes Sir” and even “Renaissance Rap Remix” He is still at the top of the game, and hitting it so much harder then most of the people in the game. Big ups to Wu, and Rae….

28 teeay357312 March 26, 2009 at 1:40 am

fuck everyone hatin on wu!!! if your a real hip hop fan then you know there the only real crew out there. they never fell off. I got a cd book that holds 260 cds and its all wu, real cds not bootleg. they never went away n none of em fell off. Why cause they dont have lollypop candyshop hooks. im 29 and if it wasnt for wu tang and the killa beez id be listenin to country music. raekwon aint got to prove a damn thing him n ghost made a classic. you cant compare this cd look at it as a gift from the gods. 90% of critics got 50 cent posters over there beds they will never know real hip hop. WU-TANG FOREVER!!!!!!!

29 Chris March 26, 2009 at 11:32 am

whoever said that criminology 2 was a rza beat you need to listen to more wu… the beat is waaayyyy too clean to be a rza beat. that wu-ooh joint sounds more like it could possibly be a rza track. and to the dude who said only dudes 28 and older are peeping the new album… i know plenty of teenagers who listen to wu… just like i know plenty of teenagers who listen to the doors and the beatles…. good music is timeless… and wu was in their element from ‘93- about 2001. they redefined rap, they’re style was unheard of in 1993 and nobody can sound like them if they tried. there will never be a group with 9 members who can ALL spit like that again. even u-god could take a shit on most rappers in this era.

30 Chris March 26, 2009 at 11:39 am

word is j dilla produced a track on this album…. j dilla is dead! i wonder how old some of these tracks must be

31 JAU POON March 26, 2009 at 1:43 pm

Hopefully Rae actually says what the REAL release date is. Ive been keepin my hopes up for this cd since 07. Im tired of it bein delayed. And yes I KNOW I KNOW Rae says hes tweakin the cd up and making sure its good and findin the proper record company but COME ON ALREADY all of us Wu heads are really hungry for Cuban Linx 2. The first cd was legendary and from the tracks ive heard already it sounds pretty legit.

RELEASE IT!

32 Thomas March 26, 2009 at 2:10 pm

and to the dude who said only dudes 28 and older are peeping the new album… i know plenty of teenagers who listen to wu… just like i know plenty of teenagers who listen to the doors and the beatles…. good music is timeless

^^^^^
That would be me. I made the comment because I was unsure how young folks feel about Rae and what he has contributed to the game. Wu stan I am……..however…..U-God has always been good as a part of the whole group and not very good when he has ventured out in solo territory. I love the Wu, but U-God isn’t shittin’ on too many people fam.
His first solo was lackluster (I own the CD and tape……FYI) and really didn’t match what he did on Wu related joints……check “Black Jesus” from Ghost’s Ironman and compare that verse to any on his first solo joint.

33 teeay357312 March 30, 2009 at 3:56 pm

how can u say golden arms redemption was lackluster? U-GODS A BEAST on that shit. Thats a classic Wu-Tang joint right there. Production by Rza, Deck, True Master n appearences by Raekwon, Deck, Meth, Hell Razah what more do you want. If u got the cd n the tape go listen to that shit again. Now Mr. Excitement thats another story but its still U-GOD. I know what you mean when you say wu related joints but come on if your gonna compare all there new shit to that your gonna be disappointed. compare it to G-unit, lil wayne n all that other garbage n you will see why Wu-Tang is on another level. Same thing wit Immobilarity. That shits on anything out right now (none wu tang) Raekwons an animal on that shit. But you will always hear that it didnt compare to Cuban Linx. No Shit!! But Its Still FIRE!!! I Dont Know maybe its just me but thats how I look at it. PEACE!!!

34 Thomas March 31, 2009 at 12:26 am

@teeay357312
To each his own but Golden Arms Redemption is NOT a Wu-Tang classic fam. When you say Wu Tang solo classics you must talk about OB4CL, Ironman, Dirty Version, Liquid Swords, Tical. Golden…. is NOT.

I don’t need to listen to the CD again…cause I know its at the bottom of the Wu list. “Bizarre” was probably the best joint on the album…production wise and lyrically. Every other joint U-God DID NOT keep up with the tracks.

He was murdered by Lethaface, Mef, and Rae on “Rumble”, couldn’t keep up with RZA’s production on “Stay in Your Lane” or “Turbo Charged” and he was straight horriable on “Dat’s Gangsta”, “Pleasure or Pain”, and “Lay Down”.

All I’m saying is he didn’t spit anything close to “Black Jesus”, “Investigative Reports”, “Winter Warz”, or “Longevity” on his solo joint.

Just my opinion, but I’ll take Dirty’s Nigga Please over this any day.

35 richardo April 2, 2009 at 9:07 pm

im 17 and i check for OBFCL 2 i love rae

36 Ben April 7, 2009 at 10:37 am

Comes out today?
i gotta get that…

I’m already knowing this shit will NEVER hit the streets in the city of Memphis so I looked it up on Amazon. I can see its been pushed back yet again to Sep 8. It may not be as dope as the original but who gives a fuck. This nigga can get a steak and potato off me just for not mentioning the word “SWAG” or some variation there of. Fuck the club! Fuck surfin out of water and If yo leg stank wash yo muthafuckin ass. I can’t take this shit no more. I’m actually gonna purchase this shit. Might not go platinum but dammit he’ll sell one in the city of memphis. WU all day nigga what?!
