Tokyo Cigar: The 7 Year Theory

I gotta give it up to my man Tokyo Cigar. Tokyo is probably one of the the most consistent and persistent producers I know. Since we started doing remix contests on the site a year ago, Tokyo has been there since day one and has not missed a week. His style may not be the most mainstream sound you’ll hear, but you gotta give him props for his chops and sticking with the grind.

Tokyo Cigar would like to ask us, “What does 7 years sound like?” Before you answer that, check out this compilation of the last 7 years through Tokyo’s eyes. His vision, his quest, all in one download link…

Hey, i have listened the stuff. I think it have good feeling, it’s a good shot, but if i can give an advice, go on the sound design man, bomb the drum more banger, and the mixing more pleasurable.

Ayo Tok, it’s gotta be more than 7 years, we were producing and writing together back in ’98, weren’t we? When I dropped my PY204, we had known each other at least 3-4 years, and that was in 2001.

Can’t wait for part 2! You are the man as always fam.

( caveman status LOL ) It was’nt till 01 that i started using Fruity loops and putting out stuff ( yo remember all the crazy sessions at Big sound Studios with Steve? )so i consider that the official jumpoff.

1nce again thanks for the love yall.

Do you remember how I used to carry a backpack around with a notebook and karaoke machine for on-the-spot cyphers? LOL

Yea, I wonder how Big Steve is doing! It’s been a fun ride, man, I can’t wait to hear what you have in store for real fam.

Word up fam. That was nuts. Remember all the rhyme sessions in the basement with cats like Calvin and all that? Damn! those were the good old days.

About a year and a half ago Rome said that he saw steve performing with a jamaican band in Silver spring. When i seen dude last he was making moves doing scores for the Discovery channel. It’s crazy.

Plus yo fam, you were the one that put me on to Fruity loops. Good looking out on that. That joint has been my right hand ever since.
