We’ve been slowly covering more and more R&B on the site, and this guy right here caught my ear last week.

For more than 10 years, Tony Jacobs has proven that he is more than just a former intern at Music World Entertainment (home of Destiny’s Child). Working under the music mogul Mathew Knowles provided him with the training that he needed to fuel the fire that was burning beneath his soul to spawn the music that was in his blood. The multi-talented singer, songwriter, producer was born within the ashes of hard work and willpower.

What distinguishes Tony J, from the newest R&B star to rise from Houston, TX is his lyrical consistency and creativity. His first single, “U Need a Man”, is every woman’s dream anthem, his second single “Can I Take U Home” caters to the edgy and sexy audience, and the club banger “25 Candles” with Trae Tha Truth only produced a new lyrical cleverness that the music industry so desperately needs. You can’t go into a club, get into a car, or walk down the block without hearing one of these hit singles. His music not only represents Houston in its proper structure, but presents a new original method of southern swagger to the world. Focused, yet diverse in his talents, Tony J maintains and survives in this industry by pushing boundaries of tradition, and seeing how far it will go.

His highly anticipated debut album, Love Lessons 101 is an essential theme resulting from his life experiences. Which has taught him the realities of life and yet being able to move on and to accept what life and love has to offer. With his devotion to “true” music attached with the growth he has experienced over the years, Tony J knows that his time is now! He’s young, aggressive, and hungry. With this type of passion and obsession in his music, he is sure to keep his fans addicted and impatient for more.
