Introduction to West Coast Week

Kevin’s on vacation, so the kids come out to play. It only made sense to have a week dedicated to the West, simply because there is always so much East coast (and North heat!) content on the site. We felt that perhaps the West audience, whether they were from the West or fans of the West coast sound, were being ignored and by no means was it intentional. There will and always has been a bias of West or East and this site just happens to deploy more East coast material, but greatly opens up its arms to sounds from all around the world. We’ve shown how open we are by showcasing artists from all over the continent and the world; now, the West gets their time to shine.

With that said, this week will be special. We have some controversy as Freddie and I weigh in on who we think the Top 10 West Coast emcees ever are. This controversy is met with more controversy as some artists and guest writers have offered their guest services and will drop their own personal top 10. We can’t say who, that’s a surprise, but there are some familiar faces.

Thomas will be hooking up some hot sample sets, joints of the day, and there will always be discussion. There will be movie reviews, album reviews, and even an article outlining the background and history of the West Coast this week. We have more guest writers who will be contributing and we still got loads of help and the stamp of approval from the boss, Kevin. Towards the end of the week, look for yours truly (alongside Freddie, once again) to drop a Top 25 Dr. Dre productions list as well. Pure heat all week.
