@BlackHayze lol funny i find u on here too for a discussion lol. but i agree, i can barely relate to this shit, i mean whod a thought the difference b/w 26 yrs old (me) and 22 (asher) makes as far as life and relating shit. Did all the college parties already.

the production seems like it coulda been better. if they was goin for that live instrument sounds sampled vibe they shoulda took a cue from Mark Ronson. This production is like Sean said "safe" I feel like that too. no chances taken at all.

Asher seems more non scared makin some nice written/put together lyrics with hooks ill admit.

I bought the album, maybe the first one I spent money on this year. I'm still kinda pissed at the review that Deez gave "The Trickle Down" but Deez is really accurate on this one. In Asher's case I think Deez went easy. I read the Dx review before I bought the album, just to see if it was really that bad. I think it was. There are definitely some gems on there, but this one might collect a little dust while I give some other albums a thoro listen. I might like it in a couple of months, you never know. I didn't realize how classic "The Moment of Truth" was until a year later when I was hearing the garbage that was coming out. Holla

Great review Sean. I don't relate to Asher's music. I liked the college joint, I didn't enroll in college, but I went to some crazy parties (back in the day) at Cortland and stayed blazed up in the dorms. Out the 3 joints up there I WOULD play "fallin". No doubt the kid is talented, but I can't really relate to his music.

Yeah Deez i mean more of a second opinion sidebar sort of thing and if an album is particularly landmark or is one of great discussion then a more full re-analysis could be an option.

It is true though about the mistakes, i would say you could go more for reflection rather than re-assessment. I dunno how it could work, maybe you could make it a mad rare ocurrence?

And yeah i cant remember what you gave Elzhi's album but it was defo my favourite album last year hands down. I'm only 19 myself and very few modern releases have made me drop my jaw as often (fishscale, food and liquor and below the heavens come to mind) as his release. Guessing Game is such an ill concept track.

Victor, are you referring to re-reviewing an album I've done?

I considered that last year, because I felt like I gave both the Black Milk and the Elzhi albums a short end of the stick when I first reviewed them. They both ended up being top 3 of my 2008 best album's list.

It's possible. I think people need to realize that writers in general have very firm and stubborn opinions. So if we gave a 70, when it probably deserved a 75, one way or another, most (not all) will find ways to justify the 70, like many lawyers do try to prove their client innocent when they know they are guilty.

It's this cross we carry because to hone up and admit to a mistake or a slip up is tough. However, the best way to fix a mistake is not to make them. And at KevinNottingham.com we go through a series of steps that involve re-reads, hiring process, re-reads again, and criticisms that allow for that mistake to be caught. I think a re-review process for this site, would just be an echo of the already written piece.

Hey Deez would you ever consider like a reflection-review sort of thing, where you go back and provide a second opinion on a big release?

lol, you're funny Thomas... lol.

I want to address 80's Baby though. I totally hear what you're saying. There are plenty of albums that I have hated when I first heard it only to love it months/years later. The problem is we life in a society of here and now. For this site to stay successful, we have to put reviews out as soon as the album comes out, if not earlier. I mean, look how many people have been looking for this review today. I guarantee that if we were to put out this review a month from now it would not get the same amount of views or comments. To test that theory, we will be posting a review of Big Pooh's new album later this week. That album came out about a month ago. I bet it won't get as much attention as this review did today.

On a similar note, we do not review albums based off of one listen. That would be stupid. Every review submitted on this site has been in our possession at least a week, sometimes a month in advance of the release date (one of the perks of doing promo work :D).

So anyway, I feel ya 80's Baby, but I had to throw my 2 cents in.
