Toronto-raised lyricist/singer/song writer P.A. is among the up and coming unsigned talents on the east coast underground scene, he has put in a great amount of hard work to earn that reputation. He has dropped several projects and appeared on tracks alongside legends he was influenced by as a kid such as: Tragedy Khadafi, Kool G Rap, AZ and also the newer class of elite lyricists such as: Oddisee, Kev Brown and many others. Let’s get to know P.A….
Where You Reppin:
I’m repping the city of Toronto which is home to artists such as: Suakrates, K – OS, and Drake.
Introduce Yourself:
What up, my name is P.A. lyricist/vocalist just trying to make the most genuine music as possible and some would say nostalgic.
Current projects we should be looking out for:
I’m currently working on my “Melodically Vibrant” EP project. It should be dropping this summer of 2009. It will have some dope people like: Kev Brown, Oddisee, and some heavywieght production on it. The project is coming along great. Should drop this summer.
Previous work that we should know about:
I dropped the “I Miss 1994″ project in 2007 and the “Rhythmicism Blvd” project back in 2008. Both projects got great reviews and cats like: AZ and Craig G were on the projects aswell. The concept of the projects were basically me making music from a fans stand point since I consider myself a fan of the music first.
Main musical inspirations:
I would say my inspirations go from Kool G Rap to Keith Sweat to Guru. I take a little bit of something from everyone. I honestly feel inspired by anything from the golden era’s wiether it be the 80′s or the 90′s. I also feel inspired by the new wave of talented artists in the “underground” scene at the moment.
If you had to pick one song that defines your career to date, what song would that be?
It varies because lifes always full of highs and lows, some days your feeling positive and some days your feeling down. If I could choose one or two songs I would go with: De La Soul – Much More & Gangstarr – Moment of Truth.
Why should the readers and fans give you a shot and listen to your music from here on out?
Honestly, I’m never into hyping myself up. My music always travelled via word of mouth. If the music is genuine it will get heard eventually. I could only hope someone would take the time and check out the music, the rest is up to them.
What’s next for you?
I’m really trying to push myself with being consistent with both quantity and quality wise. I do understand you can’t force art and I agree with that. I just mean being consistent in terms of timing and getting projects done.
If you could only take one record on a deserted island with you, what album would that be?
I would say ‘Jodeci – Forever My Lady” because I’m more so a fan of music you can relax and zone to. Soothing type of music is my cup of tea.
Any shout outs or last words?
Much love to Kevin Nottingham and the all the staff on the site for providing an outlet for artists to be heard. Peace and love to everyone out there.
