I’ve never heard of Kurious [Wikipedia] nor do I remember this album.  However, props again to Onez for bring to light another gem.  Onez calls this album with production from The Beatnuts, Daddy Rich, Pete Nice, and The SD50′s a slept on classic.  He hasn’t disappointed thus far…Info and link after the cut.

Yo Ones you doing too much. Damn this album takes me back. Big up to Dante Ross and the Sd 50′s. They were mad underrated. Yo Onez if you pull out the Hard 2 Obtain “izm and blues” set you are officially a demi god.

  • onez

your wish might be my command :)

wow. thanks for sharing. if I was asked to list albums that would classify as part of the mid-90′s/hiphop golden era, i would include this one. YOU NEED TO WALK LIKE A DUCK!

For a hot minute, Kurious had one of the best albums out and was getting a lot of respect for his lyrics. But it sold poorly and he disapeared for a while (if I remember he kind of predicted all that on one of the tracks). He’s got a feature on DOOM’s new CD and he’s working on some new stuff I’ve read – but that Consitapted Monkey joint is dope check it out. Never go wrong with the Beatnuts….

  • manz

Yeah I don’t know how I missed this album either Kev, I do vaguely remember seeing ads for the joint in a hip hop mag circa 94..but damn I’m gonna check it out just based of this sample set. Good looks!

Kurious, KMD MF Doom, all from the same circle from way back.

also Kurious dropped on Columbia so his album was frequently promoted alongside Nas’ Illmatic

  • manz

AHHH YES…I remember the track “I’m Kurious” now that I’ve heard it again, I think that was a single, Thomas and Onez you guys are crazy for this set, Much props!

I got this CD when it 1st came out because I knew it had Beatnuts produced tracks on it! It’s mos def still in rotation!

  • Jorge

DAMNNNNNN, THIS TOOK ME BACK TO WHEN I WAS A FRESHMAN/SOPHMORE IN HIGH SCHOOL…. MOS DEF A CLASSIC….

  • tripledouble

jeremiah pucket from eddie fisher 100 years LP was another sample on there

the b-side to i’m kurious had “mansion and a yacht”, probably kurious’ sickest track, wich sampled nairobi sisters “promised land” (an equally ridiculous track)
