K-Swiss: Remastering the Classic

K-Swiss

We all know that sneaks and hip hop go hand in hand. So when I saw the new K-Swiss ads rotating on the site, I had to go  see what their new ad campaign was all about. I rock a lot of different shoes, but you can’t get any more classic than the K-Swiss classic white sneaks.

This year, K-Swiss is apparently revamping their Classic line by going back to the original look from 1966, but giving us the comfort of today. I’ve been rocking K-Swiss since 1985 and can tell you that I’ll definitely picking up these new sneaks.

I wanna hear from you though… what are you wearing and what was your first pair of sneaks? I know there are a lot of fashioin gurus on the site, so tell me… aside from Run-DMC’s “My Adidas”, how have sneakers played a role in hip hop?

I’m classic with the Adidas Superstars and The Air Force 1’s, fifferent colours, everything that looks dope. My favorite pair are the Adidas Superstar NYC edition, they were a limited edition like 2 or 3 years ago. I wore em out, booooo!
I also had some Nike Delta Forces in dark brown leather, those were the shit!

My first pair of REAL sneakers were one of the original Jordans in purple and green…I believe it was in 1988…I always ran with Reebok classics and NB classics most of the time, though.

My fav pair of sneakers are the Air Max 95. The orange and grey joints. Hot. 97 Air Max joints that were all silver/greyish.

I fuks with the Jordan III (the Mars Blackman joints). I use to rock the A 1’s until they started getting out of hand price wise and trying to make them “exclusive.” Remember them joints were $60.

Fav basketball shoes were the Black and Purple Huraches (the ones that C-Webb and Fab 5 wore I think their freshman year at Michigan).

I could go on. I feel you G.C. on those NB. I need a new pair, but the Grey joints are the best.

I had an original pair of jordans when they came out and my damn dog (may he R.I.P.) chewed em up good. I had the reebok pumps and even the classic red Converse Chuck Taylors. Now that i’m older i go for cheap so the past couple of years I’ve worn the same exact shoe: K-Swiss. I don’t even know what style of shoe it is but they are the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever had. All white too.

Never fuked with K-Swiss. I don’t like white on white shoes.

@Thomas – I feel you, but the Reebok Classics in white are HOT. I also had a white on white NB 574 I used to rock too.

True dat G.C.. I’ve always been a Nike/Jordan dude except the NB 574. Or at least when I could buy shoes myself. Oh…I forgot about the Orange and blue Bo Jackson’s. Them joints were $135 back in 91′. Spent my whole summer job check on them joints.

right now im wearin jordans… my first sneaker was an air force one purple/black with velcro. i was about 4 or 5 years old :)

i think sneakers (and fashion in general) belong to hip hop like graffiti and the music etc. it’s also a way to express yourself. :D

Shoes have always been a part of hip hop and to get a better view, i recommend this documentary: Just For Kicks.
It’s a great film about sneakers, about sneaker history and how their related to hip hop.
U gotta watch this!
