Producer CEO: Illmind [Part 2]

We continue with Part 2 of our exclusive Producer CEO series with Illmind, and here, he gets open about his experience teaching music at the Harlem Children’s Zone, science and some of the more interesting projects he’s undertaken. Producer’s are usually cerebral people, and Illmind’s love of Music Science isn’t surprising, although it’s definitely interesting to hear about his own experiences “seeing sounds” when he’s behind the boards.

Check one part one,  if you missed that.

Glad to hear Illmind is into Dr. Kaku…I am a Physics major, and it’s great to hear he’s into the sciences as well.

Synethesia is a very interesting subject – I often wonder what it would like to have senses interpreted directly into other senses…here is a video of someone’s interpretation of synesthesia transforming sound to sight…

I’m a big fan of Educators of music. I think it’s an element looked over just about all the fucking time and it’s upsetting.

I’m even more enthused about Illmind’s interest in Science. I hate science, but his appreciation for it only indulges my curiousity in his craft

    great piece again

Co-signs Sean Deez. I started DJing at a very early age…8. Yup it’s true. My friend’s dad was in a band and would get us gigs playing r&b and soul (mostly) for wedding receptions. Imagine two little men looking like penguins in tuxedos playing Heatwave and Earth Wind & Fire. But hip-hop was always what we were into. I later dabbled in production, blowing my McDonald’s paychecks on studio time. We had no real training, no use of real equipment of our own, and no real exposure to the actual art of making music. Passion alone didn’t pay the bills so in steps ‘real life’ and out walks tremendous possibilities. If ILLMIND was around back then and got me excited as well as informed, who knows making beats may have become making a living.

As Stupid as this might sound….. I think Alot of our Generation who end up diving into audio production find it very simple Or understand how to put together A complete orchestration due to so many years of 8bit / 16bit / 32 bit VIDEO GAME soundtracks.

Not sure how many people reading this actually are producers, and of those not sure how many if any realize that the Creation of Hiphop, House, Drum-N-Bass, etc is very similiar to the way composers put together the O.S.T.s for alot of the games we grew up on….

Sequencing and Programming will vary with the producer, and what he/she uses….. but not much other than where the Drum / sample / instrument / midi is placed on the timeline (sequence) changes in theory compared to the creation of video games…..

hahaha Don’t know if that came out the way I meant it to but either way….. I know what I mean hahahahah

@DutchMassive I actually got my start creating music using anvil studio for little games I was trying to make. none of that ever panned out, but it did give me a foundation in sequencing.
