The Blueprint 2009: Week 8 Entries

by Kevin on June 19, 2009 · 16 comments

I got way behind this week and just got around to downloading all of the remixes from Week 8. So it’s safe to say that we probably won’t have a winner chosen by Sunday. We’ll try our best though. Hit the jump to check out the contestants’ remixes to Jay-Z’s “Heart of the City”…

You’ll have to download them all individually Jay Tea… I didn’t have time to do a zip package.

Hey Kevin & The Crew,

Wondering where the remix I sent is at?

I did submit on time…

Got the confirmation email from you shortly afterwards…

Lemme know

Thanks,

SCAM

I’m pretty sure you missed it because I uploaded it to my ftp site instead of to your Boxnet account.

I know you mentioned in week 9 that only submissions sent directly to your Boxnet account will be considered.

I will be sure to do that from now on…

Please go here:
http://www.timebanditsmusic.com/aintnolovescam.zip

or if it’s easier for you…I’m uploaded it to the Week 10 submissions…simply because it’s the only open submission box.

Sorry for the added stress in your already crazy day.
BUT…
My remix will be sure to get you through your day just that much easier…
Play nice & loud…
& oh yeah…
Enjoy!!!

wait a F* min…(n i don t mean f minor)..i get the impression some niggaz are playing Oj…(aka trying to get away with murder, and caught on arm robbery)..how the fuck is the only part that u actually sample “na na nana”
..Some niggaz been microwaving past meals.
Shout out to everyone who took on the challenge..some dudes s been getting overzealous with sample chopping though

I don’t know who this ^^^^^comment is directed to…but I myself chopped the heck out the sample…that’s what’s called SKILL in some sample circles – to take the individual notes of a record and re-format them into something totally original (by the way, if anyone was paying attention, I did not even “TUNE” the sample – my chops are in the original key of Bobby Blue Bland’s sample, all I did was chop it!)
I will say this, and please don’t misconstrue it as ego (producer’s #1 flaw) or “hate” for anyone – but, I notice there is a little clique on here (you know who you are) who “ONLY” comment on there “boys” remixes…..no matter how wack they are. I checked out some of the other weeks and it’s the same bunch o’ dudes having a “sausage appraisal party”. Mix it up a bit, there were some great one hit wonders new to the forum and who represented with a great submission, but who “ironically”, got “NO LOVE” in the comments sections.

What’s great about this site is this is where “INDUSTRY” doesn’t have to play politics. That’s what sucks about the industry!

MY FAVORITES, by the way were:

YoKuzin (To me, the most polished and best overall that I’ve heard – excluding myself)
Prot (Super sick chop, homie)
TS Cassid* (gangster feel, I love it)
Bezouro* (I like the chop section of your joint, highlighted by some diversity it would’ve been even greater)
*for the the record, the BPM is 85.550 (in cubase) – patience young Jedi’s, you’ll find the BPM better by importing the acapella into a DAW versus sampling it. WORST CASE SCENARIO, if having trouble finding the BPM tempo of the acapella, Chop it into sections (verses, chorus, etc) and you’ll get away with it better if it seems to drift and you can’t lock down the tempo properly.

actually i stopped at querico..
ran out of brain fuel…was planning to finish listening later..i have to say there was quite a lot of unorganized noise this week.. but as far as my comment..it s pretty factual if u run through the list u ll c it more the a few time
