Detox Gets A Release Date!

Yes, you read the title right, Dr. Dre has given (another) tentative release date for his 3rd studio album, Detox. He has this to say about the up-coming cd, ”I’m just now — over the last couple of months — starting to feel that it’s going to be right and it’s something I can be proud of, and everybody is going to love it. In a perfect world, I’m shooting for a November or December release.” Dr. Dre mentioned Jay-Z, NaS and Lil’ Wayne as artists that will appear on Detox and said that once it is out, he will promote it and return to teh studio exclusivly as a producer. So… what do y’all think? We all know that release dates have been mentioned and we have all heard that Detox will be dropping “this” year. Having seen Relapse and news of Relapse 2, is this the year we finally get Detox!?

Jay Z?? and Lil wayne??? Very dissapointing. THe only Jay z tracks i ever liked was when he was with The Commison with biggie, apart from that, im not feeling it. And LIl wayne?? Seriously?? To me, i think this album is shaping up for commerical Bullshit and should be left to the 16 year olds…

I know you didn’t but how can jay on detox disappoint you compared to some of the dudes that were on 2001. I don’t even like lil wayne either but i would still rather have him on it over rappers like hitman. thats all i was sayin with that.

Personally I don’t like being played with by delayed release dates and over-hyped projects. There was a day when this genre was so competitive that you HAD to come out sooner rather than later or you were quickly forgotten or thrown into the trash bin we created called Old School or no longer relevant. Everyone can’t do what Jay or Nas has done successfully (Jadakiss and John Travolta as honorable mentions) by taking off for years and still be a commercial success. I’m not convinced that Busta’s latest album benefited from the long layoff because it builds too much anticipation and expectations. With that said, if Detox ever sees the light of day, Dre better kill it or fall from grace like Jordan missing a dunk!

the only reason i made that comment, basically was becuase if you put Jay Z, or Wayne on an album…its a certified seller…..Due to the fact Jay z is held in high regard for the real hip hop heads, and the fact the younger generation will love wayne being on there too.. I guess theres no risk involved you know?? I hope dre smashes it on this album…. and he brings the best out in the artists….and in himself.

I mean . . if you’ve actually sat on the edge of your bed waiting for a dre album then thats you…. detox isnt a big deal. .. .its not like back in the day when you would go to the record shop and slip the sales rep an extra 25-30 dollaz just to be the first one with the album..
lyrically dre isnt as great as he is a producer.. .i feel he suffer from the gangstarr disease.. . .but he just rides the beat.. .dont live in the pass and obsess yourself with dre because hes a west coast icon.. your only in a 10 year span he made 1 album.. like i said fucka dre album.

I have a date to look forward to..as for Jay and Wayne being on the album, of course Dre is going to put mcs on it that is going to sell the album…that just makes sense.
I think both Hov and Wayne ( not a huge fan but have to have faith that Dre will not allow whackness on the album) will tear up the album.

I do remember a verse from a another sick ass artist from compton, he put out cd’s every 7 years. F*** how long this shit takes to come out, ya the fake ass release dates suck but Dre aint puttin out bullshit, Dre aint puttin out shit that dont go hard, Dre aint Fuckin wit noone that dont sell and that dont spit, Jay and Wayne are two different lyricist but they still can spit some shit that the greatest cant imagine. He is a perfectionist so appreciate the man for being the best at he does. Has he ever disappointed, why would he start now?
