Ah, who here remembers the graphic above? If you do, then you’ve been with us most of the 2 years that we’ve been in existance. Today marks the 2 year anniversary of KevinNottingham.com. The site has grown tremendously in the short 2 years that we’ve been in existence. In 2 years we’ve reached close to 3.5 million hits on the site and have gone from around 50 average viewers a day to 15,000 viewers a day! Let me fill you in on the site’s history as we take a walk down memory lane…
For those that don’t know, this site started as a personal venture by yours truely. I did a little blogging on MySpace, but decided to set shop up at KevinNottingham.com. Check out my first post here. Initially, I didn’t have any direction and the site almost turned into a technology website, as seen here.
Music was always my true passion and I did various album reviews and top ten lists, even though no one was really reading at the time. Read my first album review and first list article.

After a few months, I realized hip hop was my true love and decided to call the site This Is Hip Hop (we have since dropped this name and just go by KevinNottingham.com now). I mostly did Producer Spotlights and started digging for samples. The first producer spotlight done was DJ Premier. Not really much to see there now as the player doesn’t even work.
The album that got me into digging for samples was Common’s Finding Forever, believe it or not. Initally, I did not post full sample set, but did more of a sample/example type of post by posting snippets. Check out my very first Diggin In The Crates article. Eventually, I stepped up the sample game and started putting out sample sets the way you see them today in early 2008. ATCQ’s Low End Theory was the very first. Note that we have since revisited this set. Thomas came aboard the site to help soon after and has been a valuable asset ever since.

Since then, we have done so much with the site, it’s hard to cover everything. The site has gone through a few design changes (I wish I had snapshots of older designs) and I’ve brought on numerous reviewers and contributors to help make this site the best that it can be.
Thanks to everyone who helps make this site the best that it can be and we hope to be bigger in better going into our third year!
