    i told ya’ll jay gonna be 60 and still the best and hardest MC to date.

  • CEELOS

    whats does he say at the end? I heard” fallen men want me to sit em on my lap but I aint got a beard and Santa Clause aint black” either way cant wait for this to drop. I dont get why people think a mature mc cant relate ignorant heads can learn so much from jay.”like I told you sell drugs NO hov did that so hopefully you dont have to go through that”

    BP3 September 09!

  • Charity

    Can’t deny him. Why would you want to?

  • Matt

    Lol @ his cult oohing and awwing at his corny and simple lines. He was better off retiring on top with “The Black Album”.

  • http://areyouheretoconfuseme.blogspot.com YouDontHaveToLoveMe

    BP3 is gonna be bigger/better than American Gangster and Kingdom Come combined. Granted those are two of his least respected records, but the way ish is seeming right now — between this and DOA –BP3 is gonna be up there with Reasonable Doubt and The Black Album as his best albums (yeah, I left the blueprints out… let the drama begin, haters, dig in)

  • Charity

    Dude, come on, The Blueprint > The Black Album. Also, The Blueprint 2 was almost garbage, a random bag of tracks that never all belonged on the same album, and an hour too long.

  • Charity

    It wouldn’t have been so bad either if he hadn’t insisted in turning the whole damn album into a producers’ showcase. Even his otherwise impressive tracks have some of the lamest over-production. What They Gonna Do? Poppin’ Tags? So Many Hoes In Here? All Around The World? F*ck All Nite? Just Blaze saved that album single-handedly.

    You see the last comment left by Charity lets me know that you niggaz just listen to the beats and production of the song…Yall cats arent actually listening to Jay. From Reasonable doubt to American Gangsta there is nothin but growth in Jay. Jay said it best…when he made all those club song everybody in the world labeled him the greastest MC…but when he made Kingdom Come and American Gangsta, which actually made you think about what he was saying cats started talking about “oh jay falling off he should have stayed retired. But if you listen to reasonable doubt then you fast forward to Kindom come and American Gangsta…Same type of lyrical content. Reasonable doubt was thought provoking as was Kingdom come and American Gangsta. Although Blueprint 2 showcased a lot of producer the lyrical content that jay came with was bar none. If you aint feeling Jay there is only one reason…you are Soulja Boy…and what I mean is you dont understand what he is saying. Before you guys talk about Jay falling off or any great rapper is falling off actually listen to what they are saying and try to comprehend…cause maybe just maby you dont like him cause his shit goes over your head and you just can relate to what he saying

  • http://kevinnottingham.com Thomas

    Matt coming out to throw dirt on the S. Carter. Matt do you have anything positive comments in you?

  • http://iigunzent.com DJTommyIIGunz

    @NIco Primo
    I listen to the Production AS WELL AS the Lyrical content of the music, and I can honestly say that the only 2 times Jay has really impressed me in that aspect was Reasonable doubt and The Black Album. Jay will never top The Black Album (lyrically) even though the production wasn’t as strong as The Blueprint (which by far was his best album Production-wise). I think the problem with him has been that He’s crowned as the best no matter what he does.
    I mean the nigga said this on a song: “I got a hunny bun, nah for real I got a hunny but, Millions I got a hunnit them” and nobody said anything to him about how wack that was.
    Jay could say a Solja Boy rap and niggas would crown it the best thing since sliced bread. I think that’s bullshit. I mean I like a lot of Jay’s music but people need to stop rating him as the best rapper to ever drop an album, or the best album of the century every time, when you got Talib Kweli (who’s definitely a better lyricist), Rakim (way better in his time than Jay-Z will ever be), and a lot of others who are honestly lyrically superior to Jay.

  • Matt

    Probably not Thomas. I’ve never been a big fan of this clown. I remember someone posted “Jay-Z is the GOAT at being overrated” which I heavily agree with. Not in my top 10.

  • Charity

    @Nico I listen to Jay, and I get your point about the growth of lyricism, and I agree, but production still creates problems. I’m a Nas stan and I could listen to Nas rhyme all day, but when he drives his lyrics into a batch of questionable beats (most recently and thoroughly, Hip Hop Is Dead and Untitled) it detracts from his music.

    But, it’s pretty intellectually dishonest to assume that if anyone doesn’t like an artists direction on any particular track or album, it must simply be because they don’t understand what he’s saying. I think Jay shines lyrically over much of Blueprint 2 but I’m look at the album as a whole, cohesive body of work. It simply doesn’t hold together. The tracks — lyrically, production-wise, whatever — don’t really belong on an album together. The album simply fails to maintain any sense of theme or singularity whatsoever; it’s essentially a singles compilation and showcase.

  • Charity

    @Tommy lol at that verse.

  • Charity

    Like, I honestly don’t understand how Hovi Baby, Poppin’ Tags, Meet The Parents, As One, A Dream and F*ck All Nite ended up on an album together. I really don’t. Unless Kanye, Just Blaze, and the Neptunes ended up in some sort of Mexican standoff in the studio where they refused to take any of their respective tracks off the album and Jay was just like, “fuck it.”

  • Victor

    The near anti jay sentiment i see more and more is shocking man. Blueprint 2 was scattershot but it seems like if something isnt flawless people just completely discredit it. Near unanimously people considered American Gangster dope, less than 2 years after that album dropped people take shots at him as if he never dropped it.

    Jay might not be the greatest lyricist, but hes up there; hes not got the greatest delivery, but hes up there….What makes dude great are his all round characteristics as an emcee.

    @Matt

    Umm isnt it a bit immature to be so uhh hateful? Well mindlessly anyways, regardless of whether you hate dude, calling him a clown etc. is in no way constructive to an argument. I really dont know why we hate legends in hip hop, the way people insult guys like KRS and Nas leaves a lot to be desired. Relapse wasnt a classic so Em got criticised by the rap community, when guys like Jeezy get regular passes…

  • Matt

    Jay-Z is a clown to me. He openly admits to dumbing down his music to make money. I don’t know why you’re bringing these other people into the discussion, but since you did… Eminem = 0 Classics just like that “nigga” jigga.

  • Victor

    In his “dumbed down” period he dropped the blueprint, which was arguably even better tha Reasonable Doubt. Regardless, admitting something like that is not a crime and doesnt make him a clown, especially as he is stinking rich because of the dumbed down singles. The only one of his lps that suffered greatly from this imo was vol 3 (which was a shitfest).

    Marshall Mathers lp? Not a classic?? Heck even the slim shady lp has a shout, both were aftermath’s flagship releases. Even if you dont consider them classics, what do you want to call em merely very good? SMH at this need for a classic album to get an emcee any shine. Even emcees who drop consecutive classics dont get deserved shine (ice cube or redman?).

  • Matt

    Ice Cube and Redman are better than Jay-Z and Eminem… just to get that out there.

    BA > RD > BP

    IMO you’re what’s wrong with hip-hop. CLOWNS like Jay admit to whoring themself off to make money and the fans still ride him like a mule. I don’t even hate Jay-Z , I just think he’s severely overrated and it’s disgusting to me to see his lame ass “freestyles” and songs still getting this kind of praise. There’s no point in arguing this though, I’m still not going to be a big Jay-Z fan and you will be so…

    MMLP is not a classic… Eminem is one of the best rappers ever, but his subject matter is terrible. Relapse is a great example of this. It’s obvious Eminem can write extremely well but I don’t want to hear about you getting raped by your stepdad or some bullshit story about your mom giving you meds. “Beautiful” was the only good song on that album, but I enjoy the “serious” Eminem. I think “Stan” and “The Way I Am” are some of the greatest hip-hop songs ever made.

  • Charity

    I don’t want to hear some bullshit album of 50 Cent pretending to live in Queens. Okay. That just means that 50 Cent, however great a rapper he may or may not be, can’t make albums to please everyone.

    Also, did you really just suggest that The Black Album was better than not only The Blueprint (lmao!) but Reasonable Doubt as well? Really?

  • Victor

    Co Sign Charity, you serioius? I know taste, opinion and all that whatever, but you cant make statmenents like that and not expect criticism. Is the ish on RD goin over your head? Im not gonna lie, Black album is a notch or so below RD and Blueprint, but them two are undisputed classics. They are among the greatest hip hop releases.

    Subject matter quality is subjective for one. Secondly, if your a hip hop fan surely you must appreciate execution over a “varied” subject matter. Otherwise you wouldnt prefer Redman to Jigga.

    And individuals dont determine a classic, general consensus does. And generally, the public consider MMLP a classic. Case closed, you might not like it but that ish is true.

    the Dynasty and reasonable doubt was his best 2 albums in my humble opinion

  • Duble

    I’ve always been a Jay-Z hater, but I’ve opened up to his work as of late. BP2 was not a classic, but his flow on that album argueably changed the game. It was sort of the birth to this whole swagg rap that’s going on right now. I agree that he is not the best rapper ever and I definitely don’t go checking for every song, freestyle, or show that he does. But what he has done, along with Nas(when he was a lot better with his choice of beats), Biggie, and Pac was elevate the rap game to a higher level. As much of a hater that I am, I gotta give him his props. In my opinion, subject matter or not, Redman > Jay-Z > Eminem. Just to throw it out there, if Big L never got popped, would we be really talking bout Jay?? I don’t think so. “It’s just my thoughts people, just my thoughts”

  • VDUB

    jay- z is the hardest rapper in the game he is 40 and still comes out with the best and most lyrical music whoever saying he garbage or weak do you’ll listen too music or just skim through it. Everybody who left jay side aint been shit since they left, and u can talk about him dumbing down if u want too he was still the best, the only reason he dumb it down cuz when he come out with really shit dumb motherfuckers don’t get it, he didn’t even finish high school but a billionaire on the low that don’t sound too dumb too me. At 40 he is still relevant why because of his lyrics and thats what real people who listen too music listen for he could go A cappella and i would still listen. Its a reason when he drops he goes platinum its a reason he sell out venues its a reason he the best without “reasonabl doubt” he is GREAT PERIOD.
