The Game: F*ck Jay-Z

Everyone on a major label with actual push to their projects has good production..so that argument goes out the window. His first 2 albums are dope. He did his thing lyrically on songs like “Dream” “Church For Thugs” “Compton” “Old English” “Couldn’t Get Far” the fella has a nice number of good songs….He’s barking up the wrong tree..the only rapper who could fuck with Jay in battle is Nas…basically he’s a dog barking at the moon right now

Game didn’t take down g-unit per se, g-unit crumbled just as all hip hop “empires” do. Jay not a battle rapper? Do your research man. Not even to talk of Jay way back before his debut, how about Takeover eh? Among one of the greates hip hop disses of all time. Heck even the title track to the blueprint 2 was no slouch. Tbh though Game would do well, he really doesnt have much ammo against Jay. Regardless, taking shots at legends is disrespectful business, what game is doing is worse than what budden said about mef.

Look, Game is great lyrically and i love his music, but he don’t want it with Hov. Lyrically, Hov will destroy game. The freestyle game just did wasn’t that good and if that what he is going to use against Hov, ehhhh good luck.

Blah blah blah, don’t make random assumptions like I don’t know about Jay-Z. I’ve heard it all… I don’t care what anyone says “Takeover” sucks just like “Renegade”. Believe it or not, some people actually don’t like those songs. (the same way people don’t like songs on Illmatic or Paid In Full) Game would do well and I’m glad you admit that, I’m not completely counting Jay out but judging from his recent material I personally don’t believe he has the ability to beat Game in a battle of diss records. Jay said Game’s name out of the blue when he could’ve easily addressed the situation before… so who’s the one being disrespectful? Game is defending his case now. Why didn’t Jay respond when “My Bitch” dropped? Or any of the obvious subliminals? All of a sudden Jay says something and Game is the person who’s wrong? Makes no sense… What Joe Budden said WAS disrespectful, BUT it’s probably true. TODAY Joe would most likely rip Method Man a new one in my opinion. However, all the what if’s can be saved because that’s not going to happen.

I understand the nexus of beef and promotion, but I really don’t know how this helps Game in the long run, regardless of who started it and regardless of who ends it. Given how busy Game’s been in trying to bait Hova, it’s kind of like what Nas said about 50 Cent back in 2006: it’s hard to respond to someone when you honestly have no idea what they want.

Joe Budden gutted Saigon. Go listen to Pain In His Life. An awesome diss track if I’ve ever heard one, and it could certainly challenge any of the Top Ten Disses from this site in terms of lyrical finesse and devastation. But nobody cares. Why? Because it’s Joe Budden, and dude disses everybody, and the manner in which he disses everybody pretty apparently suggests that all of his beefs are raw and senseless self-promotion. I can’t blame Game, I suppose. But considering that 50 Cent detonated his own “empire” by impersonating Joe Budden, I don’t see why The Game wouldn’t have learned from that lesson before having to live it himself.

I said he’s trying to make his career last i never said that’s how he made his career. To be honest he doesn’t have very many good songs. And he’s getting worse. LAX was shitty, Doctor’s Advocate had about three tolerable tracks, and The Documentary was lucky to have a few tight beats. I’m not saying The Game’s an untalented dude, I just see him working harder to retaliate than to make good music. The guy’s head is in the clouds and hopefully he can learn to prioritize, then maybe we’ll hear something good come out of his mouth.

Game doesnt have to beef with anyone? Damn near everyone in the industry needs to beef with someone to generate sales. Yeah Jay prolly did it purposefully, but was it so offensive that Game had to respond with a diss track? If anyone really respected someone the wouldnt be like fuck em. Despite all Budden said he made it clear he loved Mef as an artist. I didn’t say what Budden said wasn’t true but there is defo some shit you just dont say.

But thats the point “some” people dont like it, fair enough BUT you have to pay respect and homage. I’m no where near a huge lil wayne or 50 cent fan for example, HOWEVER, you gotta respect the stamp they’ve put on the game. But to say Takeover or Renegade such??? Fam, if they really did “suck” there would be somewhat of a unanimous feeling to this effect. You can say i “personally” dont like this or that but to say something sucks when it clearly doesnt is dumb. When people to this day quote lines from both the songs you mentioned all over the place “do you fools listen to music, or do you just skim through it”.

That’s your opinion. I’m a fan of his discography including all of his tapes. That’s why nobody will “win” this argument, you just basically admitted to not liking Game. Although I’m arguing for Game, believe it or not I am a fan of some of Jay-Z’s music. I just never have, and never will, understand how this guy is consistently getting into people’s “Top 5′s”, especially when more than half of his discography is at best average.

I agree, Jay-Z isn’t top 5 material. That’s my opinion, but I think he’s much better than the Game. What i see from The Game, is that he works so damn hard for attention. He’s been trying to get Jay-Z’s attention for a while now and I bet he’s really happy that he finally got it, that’s why he’s going all out like an idiot with this ridiculous freestyle. The Game is trying to start something and it’s probably gonna blow up in his face because he doesn’t have enough lyrical talent to win this one.

Jay-Z didn’t send the text of this verse to anybody, so that means that everyone else is suggesting that it’s Game with a capital G, and not “game.” does that make sense? he’s referring to “gossip” and “game.” people (like Game) are reacting to this like it’s some kind of subliminal diss and i doubt highly that it is. even if he is really referring to Game the rapper, he states that he’s “not talking” about him. so where is the diss, subliminal or otherwise? this is why i can’t ride for so many of these rappers: they get so hurt and upset at the sheer mention of their name, when in reality, no one is talking about or thinking about their washed-up ass. and for what reason would Jay even bring up Game out of the blue like that? that’s mindless. out of all people, he’s gonna try to go in on Game . . . yeah, ok. makes perfect sense. what is Jay-Z going to gain from challenging someone who is clearly not nearly on his level?

and to keep it 1000, if Game feels so strongly about his name in Jay’s mouth, why did he wait to get all the way to France to really speak on it? i’m saying, if you feel like that, why didn’t you step to his front porch with that? i feel like a lot of these rappers are just waiting for someone to call them out, whether it’s real or implied, just so they retain some degree of relevancy. they seem to get a boner from the attention. is this hip-hop or high school? for real. i’m so sick of these sensitive, diaper rash-ass emcees. at least let the beef (qualified and justified beef) ignite some type of creativity. no, instead we get a bunch of “F this, F that” and “old-ass . . .” instead of a real cohesive and thought-out response. hell, if i could be half as creative and consistent as Jay-Z has over his ENTIRE career, then i’ll gladly take being called “old.” “old” is not an insult when you’ve reached every possible career plateau you could ever imagine, and you STILL are on course to achieve more. who in the hell else in hip-hop is still at the top of their game at 39 (or however old he is)? all the “old” talk is nothing but jealousy and it needs to stop.

it seems like if some of these rappers put as much work into their albums and their careers as they do responding to all this foolishness, they’d be much more successful.

I don’t know how to react to that track. The it’s good, and the quality is about what I’d have expected from Game. There’s just nothing particularly damning about the track. “You got cheese and I kill rats.” “T-Pain stays, old nigga goes.” It’s clever at times, but the shots all seem so arbitrary – especially by the end when he’s just ad libing sentences.

Jay certainly isn’t the lyricist that Nas might prove to be in this situation but he at least does his homework, and Takeover, Super Ugly and BP2 — whatever you think of their overall quality — were very focused diss tracks. I don’t know, I just think it would take some serious, uncharacteristic missteps of Jay to lose this one to Game.

Though I think Jay can still afford to give Game the Cam treatment for now. But who knows.

Man, as much as I hate 50, I really wish he and Jay would both just go in on this cat once again and for all. Also, is 50 still beefing with Nas? Can we have a thread dedicated to mapping out who 50 has ever beefed with/is currently beefing with?

Nahh Fif isnt bi polar, he beefed with the Wu to better his position in the rap game. The Game on the other hand just flips his morals every 5 mins. Hes a good rapper but when you see stuff like this you wonder when he’s gonna start dissing Cube and Dr Dre lol
