Props goes out to SoulControllah for sending this set our way.  Ed O.G. and Pete Rock collaborated on this 2004 release that produced bangers such as “Boston,” “Voices,” and “Wishing.”  Pete Rock produced seven of the joints with help from Diamond D, DJ Revolution, and DJ Supreme One.

SoulControllah included two bonus samples: one from Ed O.G. and Pete Rock’s 12-inch single “Shed a Tear” B/W “Jus Listen” and “Situations” from Ed’s The Truth Hurts album.

This album is so dope. I remember walking in the store and picking it up without a second thought. You can’t go wrong with Pete Rock and Ed. O.G.

Dope, dope. Props, SC and KN fam.
Revolution is probably my favorite joint there, just for the rawness of the simple loop and drums formula.

I think I have an addition for ya’ll. Not positive, though.
But I think the other sounds, not the piano, in ‘Situations’ is from ‘The Robbery And The Chase’ from the Education of Sonny Carson soundtrack. Shabazz The Disciple’s ‘Crime Saga’ also samples this.
Check it out and let me know what ya’ll think-

Hello Kevin,
Pete Rock IS great, and a tremendous talent literally. He is so clever I listened and hunted
it took a loooong time but I believe that he might be
in for a surprise as a few songs were apparently taken without clearance or license.
1) INI with Pete Rock- “Think Twice” – The Sample-David Axelrod’s “Holy Thursday”
2) Pete Rock- “Strange Fruit”- The Sample- David Axelrod’s “The Smile”
Now I can’t give them all away but….Let’s see how astute your fans are Kevin; as
we know You should have been number #1! For Vibe Mags poll!
3) Pete Rock- The album “City Lounge”-guess song of Petes-Axelrod sample
4) Pete Rock- The album “New York Soul From The Big Apple- Axelrod sample
5) Pete Rock- The album- “Infsfrumentals”-samples Axelrod’s?
6) Pete Rock- The album-”Little Soul”-and the Axelrod sample?
Oh I won’t list all the songs of Pete’s as he got too cute with his hand “in the cookie jar”:
As I have over 300 other sample thief’s of David Axelrod’s! And they are not small
names.
FYI:
(For all those who think it’s ok to take someone’s creation and make money without paying a fxxking dime; at least show a bit of class and mention the creator..try sitting in front of a blank scorepad! OR don’t use the music! Steal and profit from someone who can afford a serious high priced lawyer)! It only took Lil Wayne who did license
and sample correctly and FINALLY pay “SOMETHING” over one whole year with me calling every day! Both the publisher, and the record company!! And they steal owe large.
However, David Axelrod is 78, I believe it is time for all those who are stealing to make amends!
Oh regarding “Holy Thursday”; Royce’s “Shake This” is number one!
But check out Mos Live in concert (Washington D.C. /You Tube) as he plays a nice
“cover” of it with his band! Now there is a smart man.
OR,
big l- “should have used a rubber” -Holy Thursday
Deda-”nasty scene” ” ”
Ceaser Commance-”Lamb to Lion”
Raida does a great “Holy Are You” check it out.
BRING IT ON
