Here we are… the last week of our Blueprint 2009 Remix Contest. It’s been a great ride, that’s for sure! For our last week and your last chance to win a spot on our Blueprint 2009 remixtape, we are remixing the remix to “Girls, Girls, Girls.” Kanye did an amazing job remixing the Just Blaze original with his Persuaders sample (“Trying Girls Out”). Let’s see if you can flip it better!
If you’re new to the contest, read the rules. I think the rules mention uploading your remix to a final sharing service. If so, disregard and upload via the embedded widget below. Please remember to name your mp3 with your name only when uploading via the widget below. If you made changes and have to reupload, add -FINAL after your name. Remix is due next Sunday (July 26th) by 3pm Eastern Time. Good luck!

isbjerg – intros nice still taught u were gonna keep using that for the verse that’ll be sick
Im coming with full set… Choppin and laying… Using some real nice parts from the original, added Darwin ‘Mos Def’ to complete the theory and in the back, Beastie singing Girls… Imma comment some later this week… My net isnt the best these days, so I have to be very patient…
Isbjerg. I like the Beat but the only thing to me is the hook is off key from the vocals
getnyceproductions. dope track. The vocal is massively off beat!!! Only major problem I hear
Does somedy know what’s the BPM?
I mean how many bpm
84 to 86 bpm u should recreate the same drum pattern kanye use cuz of how jayz raps on the track couldnt get the acapella to go on solid so yah
- if u can let me know how u get this acapella too go on the beat that be helpful 1
It’s actually not really Jay rapping off beat it’s the way Ye made the beat. The beat changes tempos from loop to loop. One might be 84.5 and the next one is 85.3, etc.
The best way to get it to fall in line is to put it at 85 bpm and cut certain parts and slide them into the right places. It’s tiresome sometimes but that’s the easiest way to do it.
By the way my 1st edition of this week is up now.
hey everyone…since this is the last week of the contest, i would to say this was an amazing experience. from week 1 to week 13, the competition was fierce. i can say that this contest brought the best out of me. I wanna thank Kev for giving up-and-coming producers like myself the opportunity to showcase their skills. Much love to ALL the producers, and those who gave me feedback and advice on my music…much appreciated.
I haven’t posted my mix yet, but like Jay-Z said, “In the Meanwhile, Here’s something Dope for Y’all to Lean”…..Just thought I’d show a little about myself…..

What up, y’all? Long-time KN.com visitor, first-time remix contest entrant.
TommyIIGunz – I didnt really hear the chorus mismatch like that, untill you mentioned it… But I tried something different… Once again ladies and gents..
Peace to the beat squad. Yo heads kept it gully for this joint right here. Peace to the usual suspects and the new jacks that repped hard. Yall dudes kept me on my toes for real.
I just threw my joint up. It’s just some end of a movie type shit. I just let the strings breathe and threw some drums on and added little chops here and there. Hope yall feel it.
I on – Crazy beat fam. That shit is like stepping out the limo and papparrazzi taking flicks. Very big will type vibe with some knocking drums.
Isbjerg – DAMN!!! The mad scientist strikes again. The beat was Wild and the mos def cameo was ILL. I like the chops alot.
Get nyce – Crazy chops. I like the swing on the joint.
Tommy2gunz – ADINA HOWARD?!? WOW!!!!!! You crazy for the concept. Crispy chops and sugar smack drums too. Seriously though, you a wild dude for that remix. Very dope.
Razor – Damn son your drum game is always sick. I love the details you throw in there with the percussion. I like the flip a lot. You changed the mood of the sample with that.
Mello – I see you playboy. i like how you extended the loop out. Nice drums too.
Radio – Very bouncy. Very different drums. I love the breakdown on the hook.
Alien – Whoa!!!! HEAVY ORCHESTRATION. that shit was Flames. That beat has mad character. Very dope work.
I had a million things last week too comment on yall, but here’s the news… You’re all winners… Most of you did miracles on the joints and threw a lot of stuff after the judges… In my mind, ER I SKIDEGODE…. Danish for ‘You are all Freaking good and I love to compete with you guys – I may be a sore loser, but I put the energy in the levels and the search for that special feel in a break… Nottinghammers, stand up..
Ion – Really nice production.. I really like the gully sweet Jackson 5 sound in it…
Getnyce – isnt the vocals running ? Put the real Jay number up and make the beat fit that and throw the acapella in it…
Mellow Daze – see above on running rappers…
Radio Killaz – A big fan of the arrangement..
Tokyo aka Cave King – Homo Sabian Chop stylee…
Im not fond of UFO’s but Alien, you’ve got a nice approach to that… Drummers crazy…
TommyIIGunz – I see we think alike…
Razorsharpe – Good job on the Chris Rock…And you nailed the breaks and arrangement..
OK I’m in early this week. Comments are appreciated.
worked real hard on this one! Everyone else sounds real good so far too..good luck to all!
Just wondering… what does everyone use to produce?? I use Reason 4, Logic 8, and a mpk49…
PEACE!
What’s good ya’ll.
I have to say there are some dope remixes being made people, keep up the good work.
Now I’ve just made a tape myself, remixing the Black album and the Blueprint. When i finished it, I came across this remix contest, but I didn’t use the original samples.
But for all people who (hopefully) wanna enjoy music, here it is! http://www.zshare.net/download/62986658fd1c44c1/
Love,
Julian
(ofcourse comments are appriciated)
The mix is a sound from the past, all “out of sink” formations are, on the right place!
How’s that bro. Hip-Hop is from the ghetto, the streets. If you master everything to perfect quantization, where’s the feel, the soul. This way the mix spins it into reverb surround,
hm. Trust me.
Peace,
Respect.
Mudranegro
Okay. So I started and tried to use the “Trying Girls Out” sample and just wasn’t feeling it. I started messing with samples from Sammy Nestco – “Short Line Drive” and got a dope track going. I understand that I broke the rules and won’t win but thought I would post it anyways. Enjoy.
dj tommyguns were did you get that lauryn hil accapella
What up beat squad.Well, this is the last remix for this contest and I enjoyed listening to all the different flavors. For the ones that know me to usually comment,I apologize for being slack this go round.Everybody is doing their thing on this remix. One small thing about a few of the remixes. To keep from being disqualified,(possibly), some of u used the original Girls Girls Girls acapella, that was done earlier in the contest. The remix version is totally different than the first one, plus it might not count for a remix since its already been done.Just putting a warning out there to yall.Good luck and keep bangin.

I’m back ladies and gents.
@mofuwalters
I’ve had all these accapellas forever. jus figured I’d make some good use out of em.lol The Lauren I got from Columbia Records (I think) record pool some years ago when the album was 1st dropping
@Tokyo Cigar
Thanx homie. I’m on your friends list now on Myspace. Hit me up. We gotta link up on some joints man. myspace.com/iigunzent
I’ll exchange you some HIp hop for some r&b tracks if you got em. Please say you do. lol
@isbjerg
lol nah you tryna be like the GOD. j/k
I dug your sht though.
Thanks for bringing that to my attention S.T.T.R.E.S.S. It’s good to warn people now when there’s still time to redo your remix. If you did not use the acapella provided here, your remix WILL be disqualified.
Oh, and just to give you all an early heads up… there may be one more week added to this contest *wink-wink*
44th Productions – Nice chops and the bouncy kicks are superb
Ace – Wow….I felt like I was listening to E 1999 Eternal when I heard your mix….great job
Alien – Like how you flipped the track…drum rolls are on point, too
Beat Matixx – good drum pattern dude….nice and simple sample chop
Bidimridim – What a hip-hop vibe you gave the track! The flying lotus like chopping is crazy!
Clear Blue – I Think you just need to adjust the volume on the track a little by like 3-4 db….nice job though
DJTommyIIGunz – I like how you flipped the track…plus you added my favorite rapper into the mix…..nice…..drums is on point…the only problem is that the acapella is off
DNB – Amazing Intro…and from there you kill it 6 ft. under….just need to add the acapella
Psymun – Another banger…wrong acapella though
Ion The Prize – Feelin’ the RZA-like Drums…your chops gave the track the R&B vibe it’s supposed to have…great job
Isbjerg – Jay, Mos, & DMX??!!??!!…only you can make that happen! The drums remind me of “Paul Revere” if they had sounded forward….You kept the sample game simple plus the mixing is on point….one of my favorites
Prices – Very Different form everyone else’s mix….But nice indeed…..gave it a futuristic hip-hop feel….acapella is a little off
Sima – Another one of my favorites! The drums bang like no other….Chop pattern crazy ill….nice job
Getnyce- Thanks for the feedback…..One hells of a track….i think some things need to be out more volume-wise. For instance, the samples…bring it out a little more homie!!!
John Byrne- Maddddd creative….i see some Kareem Riggins and ?uestlove in you man….keep up the good work
Mellow Daze – That beat is KRAZY!!…the acapella is off though
Phurcat – I enjoyed the track…nice chorus chop…feeling the claps…I think you need to eq Jay’s voice though so his presence can come out more, because he sounds like he’s in a club and everyone elese is outside smoking a cigarette lol
D.O.E. – Very interesting drum pattern man….it came out ill though….plus the chorus matches the song perfectly
S.T.R.E.S.S. – Originality on point dude! Its’ got that nice sit back and blaze a joint vibe…feelin this track man you did your thing
Mr. Cave King (Tokyo)- Once again the chops please the ear! The drums match perfectly….the acapella is a little off though…btw that EP is Pure Dopeness…can’t wait for that Album!!!!
Something a little bit different….

Not sure if you guys would consider this a remix…but ah well…
what up nottinhammers. Heres my final remix for the blueprint contest. Its been a great ride. Just cooked it up this morning so i might change it up a little bit. I will get back with some feedback when i get a chance. Peace
Hey everyone, thanks for the feedback. Just posted my final remix of my remix of Kanye’s remix of Jay’s song (I just got lost). Anyway, I should cite all my samples to give credit where it’s due:
The Persuaders’ “Trying Girls Out” (hopefully I used it)
Jay-Z “Girls Girls Girls (Kanye West Remix)” (acapella)
Jay-Z “Girls Girls Girls” (acapella)
Notorious B.I.G. “Big Poppa” (acapella)
Method Man “All I Need”
A Tribe Called Quest “Bonita Applebum”
Patti LaBelle “Love, Need and Want You”
I love how everybody comes with something different, so many styles here. I haven’t listened to all the tracks, but let me return some short comments to those I’ve gotten to hear so far:
Bidimridim, the melody you drop in the middle of the first verse is so addictive and creative, unlike anything else.
44th, you mastered those 16th notes and I can really move with that beat
Alien, you change the beat and sound up so much, it keeps me guessing in a good way, it’s like a live performance – really entertaining
Isbjerg, i like the hop to the drums and shakes, and I didn’t think I’d like a slowed-down Mos Def but it works well
John Byrne, that was an awesome song to sample, it’s like Large Professor/Kool Keith stuff, the vocals don’t hear my ear as right, but the beat is ingenious
Tokyo Cigar, I like the way you chopped the sample, it’s not too chopped up, you let it ride, hope you get the vocals synched up.
Clear Blue, i really felt the kick and clap with the shaker in between, and you hooked up acapella oh so right
Razorsharpe, I had a lot of fun listening to yours, Chris Rock makes for one of the best intros and the beat had a tight march quality to it
I know there’s more to come, can’t wait.
Peace, Ion
FYI – Jamglue.com is a great site for acapellas and intstrumentals!
Random Notes – You KILLED the track!!!! really enjoyed it….did you make the chorus or did you used a sample? How you altered the sample was mad creative…..overall another one of my favorites this week…
Ion the prize – thanks for the feedback man! your remix this week brought a smile to my face the first time I listened to it, it was the whole package from start to finish. Superb work.
Razor – First I just gotta say what is up with that youtube hahaha? You have a wrestling arena in your backyard what is that??? Thanks for the advice tho, you were so right about the volume adjustment. Your intro is so nice this week, great job overall too.
everyone entering these contests has amazing potential and I am beyond impressed with some of these entries…give all yourselves a pat on the back haha
Clear Blue – my friends had started a federation years back and i had joined like 5 years ago…they’re the ones who actually own the ring, i just wrestle….might i add that i am the current heavyweight champion haha….just something i love besides making music….i’ve been wrestling before i’ve been doing this so yea….
Allright, here is this weeks remix, Hope you like it! I chopped alot the week as well. The melody in my remix uses part the intro of the sample. I Imported the sound in my sampler and used it as an instument. You can hear small parts of the sample all over the song.
I changed the chorus aswell.
/Niklas .a.k.a ThatSwedishGuy
Sec – That Beat is F’N HARD!!!!! The drums are appealing…..
Tenth – Truly a REMIX…..the chopping is crazy nice dude….arrangement on point….if kanye had to revisit his mix, i think he would make it close to yours…
Tic Toc – Nice track man…the boom bap feel and the mean chops on point…i think you just need to drop the beat down to a few db’s…..jay’s vocal is behind the beat….
That Swedish Guy…..(APPLAUSE!!!)…amazing instrument play and the “impeach the president” drums are crazy!!! definitely a favorite of mine
i have been slipping for these last few weeks, i’ll wait for the next comp. good luck to everyone
What’s good people, Hope you dudes check me out! Chuuch, *My favs, Random notes & my man with the Chris Rock intro.
Holla at me! Good Luck Mofo’s!
