Max Minelli has been putting it down for years for my city (Baton Rouge). Max has been putting out material since the late 90s with Concentration Camp (with C-Loc & Young Bleed), his group Lay Lo and countless solo projects. He’s still slept on though by most heads unfortunately. Max has a new album coming out “Pain Medicine” on E1 Records (formerly Koch) and an EP on the way before that called “Pre-Med.” This mixtape is pure heat. Max spits over classic instrumentals (mostly NYC beats, but even goes in over an Atmosphere instrumetnal). I hope the readers will check this out, I promise you won’t be disappointed. Good looks Justin. I almost forgot about this dude… haven’t heard anything from him in years… Didn’t Young Jeezy steal entire songs from this guy?

@chong wizard Hmm, I haven’t heard of that.

@mag cool. I’m still playing blinders btw lol. you and small pro need to do more tracks!

Actually, Justin, me and my crew, Divided Souls Ent, are based out of Baton Rouge and the accusations of certain ATL artists “borrowing” from Max are not new. I’ve even heard of higher profile names (or equally, depending on the current buzz) taking from Max. We’ve got some more material dropping with him on it in in the near future. Good review. PEace. Actually, we have a song where he’s definitely talking about some people, but he’s subliminal, but dope with it. Get me your email and it’s yours. Peace

No doubt. Not like it’s surprising or anything that guys would steal his stuff, Max is killing most of these “emcees.” I sent you an email btw Chris.

@ justin…dont worry…its coming….appreciate that man!! and @ chris wow dat info is new to me man…dats crazy…but def believable.

  • http://www.dividedsoulsent.com Chris (Divided Souls Ent)

Fine, gents, I will mention the name…T.I. That’s what I’ve heard.

  • http://www.dividedsoulsent.com Chris (Divided Souls Ent)

It’s actually believable since Max has been making records longer, I think, then T.I.

I am not the gossip, Wendy Williams-type. I believe it was more style “borrowing” than whole song jacking…albeit T.I. or Jeezy. Just because the person who “made it big” first does not imply that they were, in fact, first with the style. Feel me.

I’m only through about 1/3 the tape, but I’m impressed so far. There’s so much music out there to sort through, and every few releases you find someone actually worth listening to . It’s southern, yes – but not irritating (and I live in AR, I can say that!). I was most impressed over the choice of a few classic instrumentals, without any missteps. Definitely recommended so far! – Ryan

i know jeezy’s “come shop with me” album cover looks a lot like max’s “me & my hustle” cover…
