Today I’m officially declaring Slaughterhouse day! One of my most anticipated albums finally comes out today and it is all that it’s cracked up to be. Hopefully one of our reviewers will do this album justice. This is definitely one you’ll want to cop today. A big surprise is the digital release of Slaughterhouse member Joe Budden’s new album. I just caught word of it yesterday. I knew it was coming, but just didn’t know when. What happened to hyping up a release and at least letting listeners know it’s coming out. At any rate, we’ll have some really dope Slaughterhouse related material throughout the day here on the site. Hit the jump to see what else is in stores. Seems light today… did I miss anything?

Joe can go on all the tyrants he wants. That wont change the fact that he can spit and shouldn’t effect your choice in buying good music. That’s what we cry about right? Than go get it because that’s what you want. Dont act like a female and change your mind cuz you don’t like the way someone is acting. We waited long for someone or some people in this messed up hip hop game to put together something with dope lyrics and subject matter. Now that it’s out……SUPPORT IT. Download all the crap music and buy the real shit. Please. Were losing right now on all levels when it comes to this damn real hip hop.
Just got Slaughterhouse! PEace
If the Slaughterhouse was good, I would’ve bought it but it wasn’t *awaits shit storm for that comment*
I’m buying nothing today.
Slaughterhouse album was dope… Copped it today, but I’ve been bumping it for a week. I think Crooked definitely crept from out the shadows on this one. I know he could spit, but he went hard on the SH album. Everybody’s not gon like everything Justin, but hey, I liked it. I think they stayed true to themselves for the most part. They just got on some semi-dope beats and spit they ass off. I think they shoulda put a couple of them tracks that Kev put up yesterday, and maybe split up the tracks so that every member is not on every song, but that’s just nit picking. If you like dudes that spit dope lyrics, I suggest ya’ll cop that. Peace
5 tracks in the Escape Route is lackluster. “Anti” are the lyrics from “DOA” freestyle and the beat is a recognizable sample…can’t think of it right now.
Sometimes Joey needs a couple of listen’s tho.
GET THAT SLAUGHTERHOUSE!
Easily a instant classic, easily album of the year this far.

nigga do you not read.. I said I still may buy it later this week.. I honestly think joe budden was one of the reasons this album is not as good as it COULD HAVE been.. crooked I and joell smashed every track, because they got that hunger. as far as acting like a female, you wrote a paragraph defending him like that’s ya boyfriend, homie.. ha ha
@Suezar

you couldn’t possibly believe what you’re saying right now! Crook is OK at best. He did smash 3 or 4 verses on the whole CD but that’s about it. Joell though, I can’t take anything from him at all! He killed everything. So did Royce for the most part. But to say Joey was the weak link is pure BS. That’s Hating at its finest.
Joey was the most Consistent throughout the whole album. He didn’t just MURDER every verse but he was consistently dope throughout the whole CD. He and Joell were the only ones who didn’t have a wack verse throughout the whole disc. and trust me I’ve had the CD like 2 weeks and I’ve tried to tear it completely apart and I cant.
@duble obviously. I’ll repeat what I said the other day about it in the most anticipated releases post
About my Slaughterhouse comment, I imagined that would get some response. It’s not a bad album. I can honestly say it isn’t in my top 20 of this year and I can name the 20 albums better than it, I’m not just saying that to try to be dramatic.
The problem with the album is NOT the emcees, they all pretty much come correct. The problem is the execution of an album. If this was a mixtape, they did a pretty good job. But this is an album and it came off like every song was made by a formula. That made the album crowded. Royce & Crooked are similar style wise, Joell is somewhat similar to Budden. Now that can work, but not if you force every single guy to be on every single song. It can’t work like that and it didn’t.
Like I’ve said, it wasn’t a bad album. If you were pumped about the idea of Slaughterhouse, I’m sure if probably satisfied your needs. But it didn’t flow well, it isn’t enjoyable to sit down and listen to straight through (especially with their awful skits). You can make a dope Slaughterhouse playlist w/ some of these tracks but it isn’t a well executed album.
Of course, everyone has their opinion and that’s mine. I’m not trying to knock or hate on anyone who thinks it’s a dope album.
@Justin
From all of the Interviews that I’ve seen from Slaughterhouse leading up to the album, It kinda seems like They put this joint out to make a point. The point was “We are better than you niggas lyrically”
And In my opinion they made their point succesfully.
I honestly think this album could have been better if they’d not had so many leaks. I say that because they had alot of joints that got leaked looooong befor the album dropped that could have made the album move better. But they ended up going for a more aggressive (Battle you with every track) type of sound. They kinda took it back to Old school Ric Ruben with the album and IMO it worked if that’s the type of Hip Hop that you love.
I happen to love that LL Cool J circa 1988 feel that they had.
@ Suezar. Sheesh!!!!!!!!!!!
I think the SH album is good. Not sure where I would put it as far as top albums right now. Like I said in the most anticipated releases post its not a lackluster album to me. I agree with Justin in the fact that it plays like a mixtape sorta and is formula driven so to speak. It was Royce, Crooked I, Joell, or Joey….and the order didn’t change a bit…Joey was third or fourth except when he spit the hook on Pray.
It would have been nice to see Joey and Joell go spit a verse then for the last verse go back and forth like on “The One.” Should have been some variation in the song structure and the skits were unnecessary. The only song I think from the leaked joints that should have made it was “Woodstock Hood Hop.” Royce and Joey on “For You” from Escape Route would have fit perfect on SH album.
Everybody has their favorite on the album, but Joell>Royce>Joey>Crooked I. Now this isn’t saying anyone is wack but IMO Joell killed this album…every verse and Royce was right behind him. Joell should be on the best performer list this year…cause from this album to his mixtape…he’s been on fire.
Escape Route gets better towards the end….better than Halfway House and Padded Room.
Like or not…Joey’s behavior over the last few months has caused people not to like the group or turn their nose up to them. Fair or unfair, right or wrong, bitch made or not bitch made, but fact to me. I’ve been saying this all along….his voice/opinions are hurting the group and taking the focus away from what’s important….the music.
To me his actions are taking away from his (and the groups) skill set…. With every vlog and quote he makes it makes things worst. He can have his opinion and all…but you must personally know when to say when.
@ thomas
THANK YOU.. somebody that understands where i’m coming from.. I never said the album was wack.. given a lil more time to work on it collectively, it definitely could’ve been better than what it is, which is a really good album.. especially one made in a short period.
@DJTommyIIGunz
Crooked I = Okay?? okay… you got your opinion homie.. coming from an MC, though, dude is NICE.. even his GROUP agrees with the way I feel he is lyrically.
No problem Suezar. Again, I think the album is really, really good. Its gotten a lot of spins from me. I’m hoping that it does well at retail, but I’m thinking it won’t…cause the album leaked about 10-12 days before its release as I predicted in our SH sample post.
Escape Route has gotten better to me. I wish he would put ER and HH out on CD. I don’t like digital albums…like the physical product. He should package this and HH house together in a collectors set or put it in with The Great Escape coming later this year…probably won’t drop until 2010 tho.
I don’t like digital only’s either.. it’s just like paying for what already leaked.. I like cd’s myself.
I was just listening to slaughterhouse again.. I been playing it since the leak.. I will go buy it tomorrow.. but I hate how people say “go buy it to support hip hop”.. Where was that when Big Doe Rehab dropped?? I support good music, period.
All the Joe Budden internet solider and SH fans and only 18,000-22,000 units sold first week. Joe Budden’s Escape Route 1,700.
^ Internet soldiers don’t buy albums lol
This is a must read for everyone. http://smokingsection.uproxx.com/TSS/2009/08/slaughterhouse-sells-18000-records
^ good read
My point w/ SH was all of sudden this certain group of people came out of nowhere acting like they were “saving” hip hop somehow. They went on the rants about how you have to buy this album to prove that “Real” hip hop is alive. But most of these same people probably haven’t bought one in years. Did any of these people make noise about Cyne, Illogic, Finale or Amadeus the Stampede’s albums? How about legends like Meth & Red, UGK & Mos Def? My point is all these guys dropped DOPE albums and I wouldn’t be surprised if these “fans” haven’t even heard these albums much less bought them.
I’d hope people who aren’t copping albums would at least go to their shows if they are around their area. It’s the gift & curse of the internet and we all know that. We all get a chance to be exposed to so many talented artists we otherwise would not have been able to hear but we have to support the artists who want & expect quality music from.
