Man, I thought it was somewhat annoying of always hearing Jay in between every lines of Rihanna, just shut up and let her do her thing, you’ll get to do your verses anyway….Else, I’d say the instrumental was good, there is worst and better, but the lyrics were really average….

although not as deep as people expect from Jay…this song is exactly fits the mould of what his first single should be. i really dig this joint, but seem to be the only one.

i love how Ye keeps to the background of this song til his verse, just like a true producer should do!

this is just commercial trash! dont misunderstand me…of course as jay-z (who is commercial 2) u gotta do stuff like that…but c’mon…as bp 1 came out he had the single “izzo” which was aight…the bp2 was also developing in the wrong way as he put the single with beyonce out “bonnie & clyde 03″ except of “excuse me miss” (which was a really dope single)…

so here we are…bp3….and it seems like how is more & more developing in the wrong direction…lets see what other tracks will be on bp3 & how they will sound! but after that,im scared!

Like the beat (it drives the song)…Jay was average, Rihanna was poor, Ye’ smashed it, he was even spazzin in the video.

i like the song, except rhianna really can’t sing to me, she has the same tone in every song she does. And after the whole fight thing, i really don’t like her because look like someone was hidding something else(but thats another blog) , jay is great and THANK YOU YEEZY for rapping again with no auto tune. i would imagine this is not the best song on BP3 but its like a album filler , the rest is much better as Jay is the music mans favorite supplier.

Lets be real here, Dilla always has a different feel, at least I can say that most of his shit I can vibe to and not next it. His instrumental alone would’ve carried this shit.

It is Jay, but I’m not tired of him, and I have to say this is a horrible choice of a single. I’m going to go out on a limb and say the only reason he picked this was because of West and Rihanna. They have relevance to whats out now and of course is going to dust off Jay, pun intended. Add that to the “stunt” in Croatia and you’ve got more records sold.

I really don’t think the single is that bad. I’m certain this single will be the worst song on the album compared to the others. The single is a single…needs radio and video spins. Ye and Rihanna are relevant, but who in the Hip-Hop and RnB world is bigger or more relevant than Jay right now? Ye, Wezzy, Em, 50? Jay still graces the covers of national publications, articles in newspapers, etc. Plus, just look at this post. Man anytime we put a Jay-Z post on the site….most hits/views. Check the other blogs (the bigger ones) and see what I’m talking about….beef and Jay=success.

Jay’s name sales alone. Never any B.S. surrounding his releases other than good old promotion on his part. Only issue surrounding his release was the stabbing with Un in 1999.

Check the search…Jay is an earner. Like “DOA” or not, but he had the internets on lock that whole Friday night. If that isn’t someone who is relevant than I know nothing.

I’m not certain the “stunt” in Croatia is a “stunt” for record sales. Out with wifey and Paps acting crazy…then they throw a tripod on the back of security person. Not certain anyone ask for that…not sure how that categorizes as a “stunt.”

Again, I’m an unapologetic Jay-Z fan. I believe he is one of the greatest. I believe he has one of the best catalogs in Hip-Hop’s history for a solo artist (Nas, Cube, KRS-One, Ghostface, Scarface and some others). I believe he only has one “3 mic” album. People’s opinions are just that…its not hate if you don’t like him as an artist or his current music fine with me. But sometimes……

Anyhoo….Jay will be getting mad airplay around here in less 12 days!

Exactly Thomas, He’s relevant for a reason. Obviously he’s gotta be somewhat dope to be relevant. Call me a stan or whatever, but his discography is probably the best in hip-hop. It’s 2009 amd people still listen to 4 albums released in the 90′s Rakim about to drop a album and the internet went nuts (shouts to the R) and he’s older than Hov. Jay drops a album and it’s groans cuz he’s 39?

@thegretheron, no disrespect homey, but Dilla (rip) is extremly overrated. Very talented, but very overrated. I dont remember all this fanfare when he was alive. Say what you want about ‘Ye but his beats are very hot and make people sound hot from Brandy to Rhymefest.

Hi again, this is entertaining to read. I don’t care how old someone is, if they can still rap then they can rap. (Rakim Allah still dropping dope shit, the real GOAT IMO) I highly doubt any of y’all stanleys would suggest that Jay-Z can still rap. From all of his recent songs he has definitely shown a decline in skill. See “BK We Go Hard”, “SLU”, “Jockin Jay-Z”, etc. He’s on some slow-flow (supppper) dumb-downed shit. He was already making his music stupider to sell, but now his current music is barely a step above average. I especially don’t like what I’ve heard production wise, I can’t remember the last “extremely” dope beat Jay has been on. Maybe I’ll take a listen to AG again and pick a song.

My question to all the Jay-Z stans that are sticking up for him right now is this…
Give Me one line that is above average in this entire song that came out of Jay’s mouth.
Is that line better than anything Kanye has said in his last 3 albums?(auto-tune or not)

I can’t really find an above average line in DOA. I mean the shot he took at “Mixtape Weezy” was dope but lyrically you gotta admit, Jay has become the epitome of mediocrity. Let’s just be honest about the situation. He’s selling off of his name. Has been since the Black Album (wit the exception of a couple joints on American Gangster)

American Gangster had great production on it. In my opinion, it contained some of the best production of his whole catalogue. BUT he didn’t lyrically deliver on the album. IMO if you took the production from American Gangster and put the lyrical talent he had in Black Album it woulda been crazy. And I think everybody would agree on that.

More than I can say for these SH/JB solider with their album only pushing 18,000. I know that ish went plat on the file sharing sites. I know artist make more money off of shows, but what about the people who enjoy music, but can't get to the shows? I got a family and can't spend the $ to drive to and from show, get ticket, get food afterwards, etc. Bestbuy is my friend.

I agree. But Jay on American Gangster was Jordan 45. On Kindom Come, and the last couple singles he was Jordan with the wizards. lol

I am a SH fan. But I’m also a realist. And By no means am I saying The One was the most lyrically sound joint ever. It had its good and bad. but you cant front on this line

As far as SH selling 18,000 let’s not act like that’s not a hell of a lot of records for an Independent Release with a Promo Budget that’s pretty much My paycheck for a month. lol It’s an Independent release with basically no Label support. So 18,000 is crazy for the scenario. Don’t believe me? Put out a record and see if it sells 18,000 next week. lol

They were on Rock the Bells tour, Paid Dues tour, satalite radio, in XXL mag, XXL.com, and all of the NMC sites (the ones that get close to a million hits a month). Got this information from another commentor from anther site (cause I didn’t think about it). They had enough promo for the album. Free promo might I add you. 18,000 is NOT a good number for ALL of the support they have received. As I said they don’t have a loyal fan base that will support the music and click a button or go to store to cop. The recession got everybody messed up.

Jay has a fan base. His singles (as with this one) is to reach out to other fans that might be curious to buy his record. That is what its for. He told yall that “marketing plan was me.”

Anyhoo….the video is decent, the song is ok (its the single), and the album should be good.

Yeah SH does have a wishy-washy fanbase. I’ll agree with that. And while they did have the Tours that they performed on they didn’t get the “Machine” promotion. That’s a big deal to me because it’s fine to have the Blogs and sites that get a million a month. But it’s a whole different thing to be able to get the BETs and MTVs and VH1s that give you 1 million views an hour. you see what I’m saying? But I do agree that they should have sold alot more than they did. But shit at least they made $150 thousand this week off sales so shit they eating pretty well. lol

But It’s all subject to your point of view on these things though. Isn’t it nice to be able to have these conversations without the BS you get on sohh?!?! lol
