Jay-Z: Ghetto Techno [Not on BP3]

Just spotted this over at RR… another Jay-Z leak (after 3 of the Timbo produced cuts from Blueprint 3 dripped earlier this week). This one supposedly will not be on the new album. Not sure who produced it… anyone know? Anyway, grab it after the cut! 11 Days of Jay starts right here on September 1st!

Edit: Looks like Timbaland produced this one too…. go figure. Timbo’s got a leaky faucet somewhere!

you kno I’m starting to realize something. Now I’m no Jay-z fan, don’t get me wrong at all. But I’m starting to think that we have unrealistic expectations nowadays. I mean I think we are expecting Jay and alot of others to be something spectacular that they can never live up to. I mean this song is wack. don’t get me wrong. But the Remember joint was pretty dope. Run this town was over all a pretty decent song without nitpicking it to death. DOA was pretty shitty lyrically but cats made it out to be the best song ever when in actuality it was mediocre rhymes over a really hot beat with a dope concept. But with the abundance of dope music that’s coming out from artists with lyrical talent that is superior to Jay, cats are really expecting Jay to come out and be Big L all of a sudden. It’s not real. Honestly Jay has never been the best lyricist in the game (if you say he is you’re lying to yourself) and to expect him to become it at 40 years old is like expecting Kerry Collins to come out and have a 10 thousand yard 50 TD season this year. It just isn’t gonna happen.
He’s one of the best at what he does. HE takes what we’ve all said at home, in the barbershop, and whereever else we are with our friends, and says it on a record while being clever. It’s what he’s allways done. it’s what he’ll allways do. He’ll never be an Eminem or a Rakim. It’s not his lane. Never has been. And it just seems to me that we’re kinda setting the bar far too high for him or any other MC. I mean even the best High Jumber in the world will never jump a 50 foot bar. lol
Just my Opinion. I know I can’t be the only one seeing it.
No Thomas I’m not becoming a Jay-Z supporter. lol You will never convert me to Jayism

That said… This song does suck tho. lol

an people were talking shit about “Kingdom Come” which I liked it…this “ghetto techno” is awful

    “unrealistic expectations nowadays.”

    ^^^^
I agree with this. We need to go back being fans of music. Everybody is a critic and can’t be.

“Run this town was over all a pretty decent song without nitpicking it to death. DOA was pretty shitty lyrically but cats made it out to be the best song ever when in actuality it was mediocre rhymes over a really hot beat with a dope concept.”

“Run This Town” after a couple listen is a good commercial song. I disagree about “D.O.A..” I don’t think you can say it had “mediocre” rhymes and “dope concept” in same breath….that’s an oxymoron to me.

“Jay has never been the best lyricist in the game (if you say he is you’re lying to yourself) and to expect him to become it at 40 years old is like expecting Kerry Collins to come out and have a 10 thousand yard 50 TD season this year. It just isn’t gonna happen.”

    ^^^^^^
DJTommyIIGunz you must have skipped over “D’Evils,” “Can I Live,” “You Must Love Me,” “Ride or Die,” “Come and Get Me,” “So Ghetto,” “Watcher 2,” “Some How Some Way,” “Where Have You Been,” “Street’s Is Talking,” “The Ruler’s Back,” “Lyrical Exercise,” “1st Song,” “PSA,” “No Hook,” “Success,” “Beach Chair,” “Why We Die,” “Young G’s,” “Black Out,” “Black Gangster,” “History,” etc. Come on fam….we don’t have to agree on the status of Jay in the history of Hip-Hop, but to say he DOESN’T HAVE LYRICS is crazy. Many people have given Jay props (Premier, KRS, Puffy (the man knows music), Russell, etc). Also, many of y’all favorite rappers (now) has some Jayism’s (Joe Budden, Skyzoo, Torae, etc) <<< Listen to them and say Jay hasn't influenced them?

"to expect him to become it at 40 years old"
    ^^^
At 39 years old he and some other 30+ rappers are keeping this game alive because some of the new cats haven't figured it out.

"He’s one of the best at what he does. HE takes what we’ve all said at home, in the barbershop, and whereever else we are with our friends, and says it on a record while being clever."

    ^^^^
Isn't this the essence of what an emcee/rapper is suppose to do? An artist is suppose to connect with the listener through his/her words?

"He’ll never be an Eminem or a Rakim"

    ^^^^^
Right about that. They won't be him. Em has A LOT OF RESPECT for Jay.

As I've said before…we as Hip-Hop fans champion the underdog. Jay hasn't been the underdog for some time. I think people are tired of seeing/hearing about him. So the extra microscope on everything he does. Now with that said…I don't like this song, but I don't like "I Know What Girls Like" or "As One" or "Ballad for a Fallen Solider" either.

"Just my Opinion. I know I can’t be the only one seeing it.
No Thomas I’m not becoming a Jay-Z supporter. lol You will never convert me to Jayism"

    ^^^
I don't have to convert you…you're doing a GOOD JOB on your own. hahahah
