This documentary was released in October 2007 and takes a closer look at the creative process behind the making of arguably Jay’s best album.  The video features commentary from DJ Premier, Irv Gotti, DJ Clark Kent, Ski Beats, Kanye West, Mary J. Blige, Jaz-O, and others.

It’s always great to see the album process. Most people think artists go in the booth and cut a record not so. I’ve come to find out most good hip-hop records always has some great backstory on how it got made.

I love hearing backstory to some of my favorite albums. Only thing wrong was why 3 songs, Feelin’ It, Cashmere Thoughts, and Friend or Foe, were left out. None of them were my favorites, though they were just as good as some of the other songs, but to ignore them was odd. D’evils is my favorite Jay-Z song of all time and I was glad to hear him say it was one of his favs if not fav. It would be great to see another one of these for The Blueprint or Nas’ Illmatic.
