I think “Hard Knock Life” resonates with people because of the hook:

“It’s the hard knock life (uh-huh) for us
It’s the hard knock life, for us!!
Steada treated, we get tricked
Steada kisses, we get kicked
It’s the hard knock life!!”

I think the hook speaks to people on some many levels whether you’re from the hood or the burbs or somewhere in between.

Plus, the baseline and overall thump of the song bangs.

I think the OG “Murdagram” song was for the rumored Jay, DMX, and Ja Rule group called Murder Inc. The first appearance of this song was in 1997/1998 on Jay’s Streets Is Watching soundtrack.

Then I think another version of the song appeared on Ja’s first album.
