If, as the story has been told, neither the artist or management made any attempt to get in touch with the beat maker, to say that it was simply a “clerical error” is nonsense. To have contacted the beat maker, agreed a fee, signed a licence and then to have made a mistake on the album credits would be a clerical error. To not bother to do any of those things is something quite different altogether.

To then issue a statement in an attempt to talk your way out of the whole thing is only making matters worse, especially when about half of the statement focuses on painting the beat maker as some ‘kid’, who should feel lucky they put him on.

To be frank, it’s a pretty simple beat that wouldn’t be technically difficult to recreate, but nonethless, if I were the beat maker I’d be pretty offended by this statement.

If anything good comes out of this, I hope it is that other artists / managers realise they’re going to lose respect (and most likely album sales) if they don’t play by the rules.

I mean, the way I feel about it, until Kil gets his, this is still an issue unsettled on the MOP camp’s side.

Here’s the thing, until this is settled, the entire MOP family looks at fault for this, since at this point, we have no idea who to point the finger at. Fame blamed someone it seems, now the person he’s blaming is putting it on another party, etc. This could go on forever.

For a group so hardcore, so raw, so gritty, and so about being blunt, this is bullshit. MOP are some of my heroes of rap, and this, this response doesn’t “make things better,” in fact, it really side steps the issue.

I recently was Editor in Chief of a Magazine publication here. I’ve read this thing at LEAST 10-15 times to make sure there were no errors. It’s non-profit, we aren’t making money off of it. With something with money at stake, with careers on stake, I’d figure “The Foundation” would’ve gone through a similar process.

If you guys really did care about keeping this game clean, keeping dignity and respect and pride in hip hop, then this wouldn’t of happened and handled so poorly at the moment.

Big shouts to Kevin, Thomas and crew for doing work on this, because really, this is about to hit a low point for me and my love for MOP…. and man, it really really sucks
