Since the new KRS-One/Buckshot album just dropped this past Tuesday, we’re gonna put these two emcees up head to head for today’s Freestyle Friday. Both emcees have been in the game a loooooong time, so this should make for an interesting thread.
The idea of Freestyle Fridays is to battle one another with your favorite verse from either of the two competitors. You’re essentially battling other commenters in this thread by using the words of KRS-One or Buckshot. We’ve been doing this feature for a little over a month now, but if you don’t remember how it goes, hit the jump for a few rules and then jump in on the comments!
Before we start, let’s see if we can keep the thread in order today, by following a couple simple rules:
1. Please don’t drop the lyrics to a whole song. No more than one verse!
2. Please stay in order…. KRS-One, then Buckshot, then KRS-One, etc. If you want to drop a KRS verse, wait until someone has dropped a Buckshot one. The idea is to go back and forth. It’s possible that more than one person may be trying to drop a verse at one time… we’ll just keep moving on.
I’ll start this thread off with a verse from KRS-One:
“Let me introduce you to another type of rapper MC
where glamor and glitter don’t matter gently
I’m tired of the Chattanooga empty
Classical like a German luger
Deep like a tune for scuba diving who am I the hyper
Like I said before my radar’s going BIBBIT BIBBIT
The microphone I grip-it grip-it, lyric lyric I live it
Hear it my spirit is where it should be
Don’t push me if you pussy, HUH
I spot em, it seems you want to ride the dillz
I got em, KRS got skills in the place
I waste megahertz of bass bottom, chill
As I rock em and get ill, I build the perfect spot to kill
Verbal excitement will lead to your indictment
Whether or not you like it, still, number one I hype it
Your album, rewrite it”
-KRS-One, “Wannabemceez”
Aight Buckshot, where you at?

but How Many MC’s Must Get Dissed
- How Many MC’s
KRS-ONE
“out for fame”
When I was growin up, I had no butcher baker candlestick maker
I had rubbing alcohol and carbon paper
Yeah, carbon paper and a blackboard eraser
got me chased in the bus yards, with Rican and Nazer
Historically speakin, cause people be dissin
The first graffiti artists in the world were the Egyptians
Writing on the walls, mixing characters with letters
to tell the graphic story about their life, however
today we do the same thing, with how we rap and draw
We call it hardcore, they call it breakin the law
There used to be a time when rap music was illegal
The cops would come and break up every party when they see you
But now the rap music’s making money for the corporate
It’s acceptable to flaunt it, now everybody’s on it
Graffiti isn’t corporate so it gets no respect
Hasn’t made a billion dollars for some corporation yet, so
in the name of Phase2, Stay High, Pre-streets
Grab your cans and hit the streets, I’m out for fame
BLACK MOON
“powaful impak”
Some pack a mac, I choose to pack a black 22
By my waistline, buckin’ your whole crew
I step through, and represent Black Moon
First, before I kick a verse, I puff a bag of boo
Lyrically I freak your funk you never heard
My shit is so fly, when I kick it, it’s absurd
Damn, how I wrecked your life with one record
Made your crew break up and girl get naked
Respected, because I work hard for my cash
Shakin’ more flavor then Mrs. Dash
Look out below, my flow will hit your brain
I got dough, but I still hop the train
I’m bustin’ niggaz open, Attica style
Yo, straight to the jugular, brother you’re mad foul
Gimme dat, because I rock with the best
Yo, peace to the hardcore niggaz, fuck the rest
KRS-1
Step into a world
I’m bout to hit you wit that tradional style of cold rockin
Givin options for head knockin non stoppin
Tip-toppin lyrics we droppin but styles can be forgotten
so we bring back the raw hip-hoppin
Just like the records and tapes you be coppin
Cop some breakdancin, boogie poppin, and lockin
Tic tockin, guaranteed to have you clockin
We only get better and only better we have gotten
This type of flow don’t even think about stoppin
Beware, the length of the rhyme flow can be shockin
All music lovers in the place right now
That never understood the way that KRS got down
Yo I’m strictly about skills and dope lyrical coastin
Relying on talent, not marketing and promotion
If a dope lyrical flow is a must
You gots to go with a name you can quickly trust
I’m not sayin I’m number one, uhh I’m sorry, I lied
I’m number one, two, three, four and five
Stop wastin your money on marketing schemes
and pretty packages pushin dreams to the beams
A dope MC is a dope MC
With or witout a record deal, all can see
And that’s who KRS be son
I’m not the run of mill, cause for the mill I don’t run
FIRE FIRE FIRE
[Buckshot]
The saga continues the
motherfuckin drama continues
Buck brought bomb to ya
interview and blew the main
topic
Whats up with boot camp clik son?
They ain’t knockin they ain’t hot in
Ain’t droppin the now topics
But listen nigga this is how I pop shit
I don’t mean Moet corks when the poet talks
Every line leave ya blind when the mind get lost
Rhymes are enforced with action
Cause everybody looking like
Is they slackin, are they back in what’s crackin?
Nigga I’m hip hop like the backspinnen
Never change the fact that I did back then
