Jodeci x Quincy Jones: Get On Up/Velas

Going through some boxes of cassette tapes today I came across this gem.  That’s right I said gem.  These boys from North Carolina could sing!  The Show, The After Party, The Hotel was released in July 1995 (one month prior to the Purple Tape) and was an instant smash with the somewhat raunchy “Freekin’ You” single and the banger that is “Get On Up”  [video].

While looking at the back of the cassette case I noticed “Get On Up” samples a Quincy Jones song we haven’t featured on the site in the past.  Well, you know how we do…
