“Finally, the video to one of Jay’s best song ever”

bold statement…. very bold.

Dope track, but its certainly nothing beyond amazing. It holds its own and makes me wanna move to NY

“Finally, the video to one of Jay’s best song ever”

I don’t think that statement is bold at all. This song screams classic. This is the one song off of BP3 many people will remember whether they like the album or not.

This song is playing in Yankee F’ing stadium and will for the next 10 yrs…believe that.

If a top Jay-Z song list is done in the next 2-4 years….this song will be on it…..I would bet all the $ in my pocket on that (.15).

The only good thing about this track is Alicia Keys. Beat is average, Jay sucks.

6 Thomas October 30, 2009 at 11:50 pm

Matt I’ve never met you or talked to you, but whenever I need to see your avatar pop up….just post something Jay-Z related.

If someone else had this track you would heart it…but since its Jay….well you should know the rest.

7 Matt October 30, 2009 at 11:59 pm

Nope. If anyone did this song it would suck, except for Alicia Keys as stated before.

Where’s that BMW review? An album that is twice as good as Bull Piss 3 gets a late review? I think I predicted that “Street Hop”, “Us” and “Boy Meets World” would all be better than BP3, and I was correct. (On at LEAST 2, Royce is arguable)

You must wake up dreaming of what to say about Jay’s album. I think I predicted BP3 would be better than Chemical Warfare as well.

As far as the review…send a request to our review crew. I don’t play that position.

9 Matt October 31, 2009 at 3:06 am

Chemical Warfare > BlaqPrint > BP3

I forgot to mention Cuban Linx 2 in that list…

I think I’m going to submit my own review. I don’t say things to please people either, I’m a honest person. BMW review in a random comment coming soon!

10 Thomas October 31, 2009 at 6:34 am

Sorry Matt but

BP3 > Blaqprint > Chemical Warfare

Great song, Great video. Hype Williams toned down the style but still gave you the essence of what NY was, which sadly for most of us has disappeared in the last 10 yrs.

12 Dr. MaD October 31, 2009 at 12:58 pm

damn I saw him yesterday it was craaaaaaazyyy don’t miss it if it’s coming in your town!

13 Sean Deez October 31, 2009 at 2:36 pm

lol, this matt character is interesting.

Mad,, you live in MTL huh? He addressed that Beanie Sigel thing there.

As for this song, I think it’s a little deceptive. I can’t lie, I do get a great feeling from it, I wanna move to NY etc etc, but he’s not doing anything groundbreaking. In fact, his rapping on this track is pretty lackluster and a nonchalant. With that said, the A Keys chorus livens just about everything up and I think is the part that everyone waits for. It’s a big chorus.

The song also screams New York to people who wanna jump on the NY bandwagon

I love Alicia Keys so much, it’s not even funny anymore

15 eA October 31, 2009 at 7:30 pm

Alicia used to give me the heebee jeebees with her music, but fell off. If her next album has the power of this chorus, maaaan. I still love her, though!

16 Thomas October 31, 2009 at 8:06 pm

When did her music fall off?

17 eA October 31, 2009 at 8:15 pm

Oh no, no, not her music, just that power fell back a little for me. A track like Sure Looks Good to Me or Doesn’t Mean Anything doesn’t hit me like Fallin’ or A Woman’s Worth. Don’t get me wrong, she’s still one of my favorite R&B artists around.

18 Thomas October 31, 2009 at 8:18 pm

I apologize as I was ASSuming. :)

19 eA October 31, 2009 at 8:25 pm

Not to worry, lol. When she comes back to Toronto, I will for sure be at the concert again. She can take out a lot of these poppy R&B singers without even trying. =)

20 N. Steven October 31, 2009 at 10:50 pm

i’m just glad that lil’ mama didn’t make a cameo.

21 Kevin November 1, 2009 at 9:45 am

lmao… someone should do that, like they did the Kanye spoofs… lol

22 Victor November 1, 2009 at 3:42 pm

Dope track but Jay has soo many classic tracks that are superior to this. Every track on RD and all minus Jigga that nigga on BP are superior. Let alone other career highlights of his.

23 Jon Armstrong November 2, 2009 at 12:55 pm

Not a fan of Jay at all but this song is pretty decent. His rapping on this track was lackluster even compared to his other records of the album. But the chorus is one of the best of the year and saves it. Also the video is tight as hell.

24 Gestation? November 2, 2009 at 1:17 pm

Jay articles sure get a lot of comments.. If the same people commented on the less popular artists, the other articles would actually get a decent amount of comments.

25 Drizz November 2, 2009 at 1:27 pm

In total agreement w/ Gestation…

26 Thomas November 2, 2009 at 2:43 pm

@ Gestation and Drizz

As much flak as Kev and I get for posting Jay-Z articles and the somewhat anti-Jay stance some commenters have (not all)….the numbers don’t lie. Jay brings people out to comment good or bad.

Sept 09 was our best month every…why…well…..check out Sept archives.
