DJ Premier hooked up with Christina Aguilera in 2006 for her Back to Basic double disc LP. I think the production from Premier was vintage Preem (i.e., “Intro (Back to Basics)” and “Back in the Day”), but some poppy’ish Premier as well (see “Ain’t No Other Man”).

I don’t think the Brian Bennett Collage “Love For Sale” sample that you list for Christina Aguilera’s “Thank You (Dedication to the Fans)” is correct. I don’t think DJ Premier utilized a sample on that song’s production, I believe he used the E-Mu Mo’Phatt sound module to make it.

The 2nd link (mp3) plays the the Mo’Phatt’s stock library sounds that DJ Premier used to make various songs like: “Thank You (Dedication to the Fans)” (Christina Aguilera), the Intro for “PLAYTAWIN” (Gang Starr), and “Back 2 Back” (Guru). I actually re-created the “PLAYTAWIN” intro using the E-Mu Proteus 2000 as it has some of the same stock library sounds as the Mo’Phatt and Planet Phatt.
Just something interesting that I read a while back on the Premier Blog and thought I’d toss in since you’re talking about the Christina Aguilera song, which is my favorite off that album for Premier’s production alone. It’s crazy how he made a beat that ill just using a stock sound off the Mo’Phatt (great piece of equipment). Nice post btw! #PremierWednsdays Peace ✌

The sample sounds like he used the first few seconds of the song. The breaks had it listed (even though someone didn’t agree) and http://djpremiertrackology.8kilo.com/ had the same one listed.
