Al Great is a talented emcee from Baltimore looking to breakthrough worldwide. The Maryland native has been grinding in the hip hop business since 2006, releasing a couple of mixtapes and his debut album.  Al has recently released his latest work The Heist, an album showcasing his personal & heartfelt lyrics with matching production from Heist.  Here’s your chance to learn more about this gifted artist after the jump.

Where You Reppin?

Baltimore, MD

Introduce Yourself:

Al Great, independant artist from East Baltimore who makes his own rules…Proud father, my son just turned 6, and the first rapper that “admits” to having a job….

Current projects readers should be looking out for:

The Heist is available on iTunes now… “Greatness” mixtape available on icomposehits.com & algreat.com

Past projects readers should know about:

“Great Expectations” mixtape available on Datpiff.com

Who are your musical inspirations?

A Tribe Called Quest, Jay-Z, John Mayer, Anita Baker

Tell us about the process of creating The Heist:

Really wasn’t a process, Heist would make a track and i would let the music dictate which direction the songs would go… nothing was forced, just made songs i like to hear

What made you decided to release it exclusively online and not press physical copies?

The internet is the quickest way to be heard these days… its very convenient to have people keep up with what u have going on and all of your projects… In my opinion all artist are going to ONLY release albums online eventually

If you had to pick one song that defined your career up to this point, what would it be?

“Star of The Show”…. I talk about how i was always overlooked for so long, but now my light is finally starting to get its shine, and im “THE STAR OF THE SHOW”

If you were stranded on an island and could only have on album to listen to, what would it be?

Honestly it would be The Heist and that’s not a “plug”… That album has so much of my life in all of those songs… So everytime I listened to it, I wouldnt feel like I was stranded by myself

Any shout outs or last words?

Shout out to Baltimore, My Pro Wise and Alevan Fam, Heist for making monster beats!!!  Big thanks to KevinNottingham.com… and anybody who supports my movement and music
