Introducing… WEB

web-wide

One of the things that I’m thankful for this Thanksgiving, is getting turned onto the new album from WEB and I.D.e.A, God’s Favorites [review]. After reading Deez’s review and previewing the tracks, I had to check it out. Upon first listen, I realized that it was the best $8 I had spent all year.

So quite naturally, I had to hit the guys up and tell them how much I loved the album. I got to chatting with WEB, who turns out is quite a character and I felt it was only right to do a spotlight. Hit the jump to get to know WEB…

Where You Reppin:

VanCity

Introduce Yourself:

I tried to think of something deep to say right here but I came up with nothing. Plus I hate it when rappers say they’re deep. So here it is. My name is WEB. MC, American Indian, Inter-Planetary Customer Service Agent, Part-time Crime Fighter, Part-time Crime Doer, Beer Drinker, Lady Killer and all around Deep Thinking Individual (fuck, I had to say it).

Current projects we should be looking out for:

God’s Favorites with I.D.e.A and the Web’s Great I.D.e.A Mixtape

Previous work that we should know about:

Nothing worth mentioning at this time.

Main musical inspirations:

Nas, Ghostface Killah, Jay-Z, Eminem, Supertramp, Pink Floyd, Slick Rick, Rakim, Anything Jack White’s ever made.

If you had to pick one song that defines your career to date, what song would that be?

“Can’t You Hear Me Knockin’” by The Rolling Stones.

Why should the readers and fans give you a shot and listen to your music from here on out?

Simply because I actually strive to write quality music. I mean what I say and I work hard to make sure every bar that I spit has a message. I’m a lyricist but I don’t put words together just so they’ll rhyme. Oh, and I’m deep (sorry, I did it again).

What’s next for you?

Starting the first week of January I’m gonna begin the Open Bar Campaign and drop a freestyle a week for the entire year of 2010. Also, me and I.D.e.A are coming back together and releasing the follow-up to God’s Favorites, Marvelous World Of Color. Hopefully Kevin will hook it up and have the music available right here on this page. See what I did there?

If you could only take one record on a deserted island with you, what album would that be?

The Dead Weather, Horehound. Jack White behind the boards and on drums, Alison Mosshart from The Kills on vocals, Dean Fertita from Queens Of The Stone Age on guitar and Jack Lawrence from The Raconteurs on bass. That’s like eating Ice Cream cone on a hot day inside Rosa Acosta’s vagina.

If I had to pick a Hip Hop album it’d be Illmatic, for obvious reasons.

Any shout outs or last words?

I just wanna say thank you to Kevin Nottingham and all the other sites out there who’ve been supporting my music. Anybody who’s purchased, downloaded, listened to or hated on me over the past 6 months. I’m truly just happy that anybody cares. Also, shout outs to being deep. I rap. I’m deep. It’s serious.
